About Me

I am a 22-year-old student studying Theatre and Philosophy in Halifax, Canada! I love music, theatre, art, and adventures! I have traveled all over with my family and friends and love to take in different cultures and ways of seeing. My favorite things to do in a place that I am visiting is to see the local culture, take in artwork, and try to explore off the beaten path!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Chouchsurfing because I think that the best way to travel is to explore the local culture of each place you visit and to try and discover new friends along the way.

Interests

I absolutely adore everything to do with theatre and music! I both act in and direct plays back home and am constantly interested in exploring new and innovative theatrical forms. I also play in a band and love everything to do with music. I play guitar, drums, and a bit of trumpet, and am always looking for people to share songs and jam with. I love literature and philosophy and try to soak up as much as I can as well. I'm also a big fan of film, lately, I've been trying to watch as many French New Wave films as I can, to both improve on my French and take in all the beauty and wonder they have to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music! Currently, my favorite genres are punk, jazz, tropicalia, alt-rock, hip-hop, and pretty much anything you can think of! I'm also a fan of Opera and love to listen and discover all sorts of interesting Classical music.
My favorite author is Mohsin Hamid who writes incredibly powerful and moving books about subjects which are both political and personal. I study and avidly read philosophy, and have a particular interest in the works of Michel de Montaigne, Voltaire, and other early modern humanists.
I love film, my favortie movies are "Brazil", "La Haine", and "C.R.A.Z.Y.". Lately, I've been trying to watch as many New Wave French films as I can as I find it to be one of the most incredibly beautiful and interesting film movements.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I got to act a part in a movie called "The Lockpicker" which is now showing at certain Canadian film festivals. It was one of the most enriching and amazing acting experiences I have ever had and I will never forget it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and have worked in several restaurants, so I would be thrilled to cook for my host! I also love to share in good conversation and talk about music and culture and learn from people as much as I can!
