About Me
Hi ye all. Well my name's Davie Hickey. I grew up in a beautiful quiet little village area called Hollyford, it's in the rural countryside of Ireland. Maybe one day I will live back there. Do up my grandparents old cottage and get my vintage car back one the road. Who knows! SO Yea after finishing college I worked for 1 year and then I have sorta been traveling since. I enjoy living in a new country- not been a tourist But a part of that city, learning more about the people and the way of life there, checking out the gay scene and YEA of course making many local friends!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been traveling for a while and I ask myself why I haven't done this before, I have always stayed at hostels when I travelled because their a great place to meet people. But now with couch surfing it will be a good opportunity to meet more local people
Interests
TrAvElLiNg! Exploring new places, Meeting new people.
I usually backpack for 2-5 months at a time and then live in a new place for maybe maybe a year or so. When I am living in a place like this I enjoy:
Going to the gym regularly.
Socializing. i.e. Drinking too much partying and hanging off the lamp shades at 3 o'clock in the morning! ha ha seriously though I do enjoy my few drinks the weekends. I also like to check out the local gay scene when I arrive in a new place!
I like going for long walks exploring my new surroundings, while listening to audio books on my mp3 player. (Have a really good book on a nice sunny day and you will have walked 3 or 4 miles before you even notice)
When I lived back in Ireland I also enjoyed:
Mechanics- driving an old car at the time, I enjoyed fixing it up and keeping it going. I used to spend hours in the garage beside my house.
- I spent almost a year back in Ireland in 2010. I bought a vintage 1979 mini cooper and stripped it down resprayed it, (with the help of my more knowledgeable friend) fixed it up and restored it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm One amazing thing am
In Nepal I wanted to go trekking but I hadn't a fortune to spend on gear, boots and a guide. I bought a map and spend 8 days trekking Poon Hill and Annapurna Base camp. (It's unbelievably beautiful up there, One of the most stunning places I have ever been). So i trekked to base camp in my normal clothes (which had been good enough for winter in Shanghai) and in a pair of runners.
