Overview
About Me
Hello there, weary traveller! My name is Davis, and I would like get in contact with people from around the world, both as a host and a guest.
I work as a process engineer after I studied energy and environmental engineering . During my studies I also worked as a bartender, so if you're in for a good drink, you came to the right place!
Next to work I enjoy urban gardening, strength training (calisthenics in summer, gym in winter), playing the guitar (or at least trying to), cooking, reading, an occasionally playing video games.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
On the one hand I love intercultural exchanges, and being kind towards others in general. On the other I want to travel more, and I prefer to get to know locals, rather than staying on my own.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I mostly listen to different kinds of Rock and Metal, and there are too many Bands to name them all. Current favorites are Foo Fighters, Black Pistol Fire, Zeal and Ardor (they're from Basel, where I live!), The Heavy Eyes, Royal Republic, The Black Keys, Tool, Dark Tranquility...
Occasionally I also enjoy listening to singer-songwriters like Kurt Vile, and various kinds of electronic music, including Deadmau5.
Movies: I only occasionally watch movies. I do enjoy Science Fiction that covers ethical considerations like in Gattaca, mind-bending Thrillers, Horror, and sometimes Comedies.
Books: I'm quite bookish! In my youth I read Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire, currently I'm more into non-fiction. Some of my favorites are Sapiens by Yuval Harari and Ishmael by Daniel Quinn.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My semester abroad in Malaysia was one of the best times in my life. Not only did I learn a lot about different countries and cultures, but also about myself!
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to study Spanish but didn't practice it in ages. Would love to refresh it! I currently do that on Duolingo because that green owl won't stop threatening me. I also know some basics about strength training, so we can workout together if you like.
