ABOUT ME

My name is Sam, and I'm 25. I love to play the bass guitar, guitar and ukulele. I used to be in a band, but I was too awesome for them...

I used to play rugby, but don't any more after I left school. Now I don't play any sport properly, but I love to play anything for fun. I love to write stories and blogs that I post on my Facebook page.

I am a lawyer by profession and work in a small firm in Belfast. We do criminal law, personal injury, real estate transactions and family law mostly.

I love to chill out. I love to party. I love board games and video games. I love long chats about topics from the depths of our hearts and jokes about silly things that do not matter.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to be angry at people. Be quick to forgive and get over things. What's the point in hating someone? All you're doing is making an enemy, who could be your friend. Forgive people who have wronged you and the world will think you're awesome. Continue to be annoyed at them and people will think you're an idiot.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I genuinely love meeting new people being part of this community. I honestly think it's awesome that people would give their hospitality to people they have never met. In a world of suspicion and fear this is a breath of fresh air and I want to be a part of it and help it grow. I have couchsurfed in many countries: Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, Czech, India and I can't remember where else. I have hosted people from more countries than I can bother mentioning.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted quite a lot of people so far and I think they all had a good time. I have made so many great friends who are all so lovely.

Música, películas y libros

Favourite book is Les Miserables. You really have not experienced sorrow until you have read that book. It is fantastic. I also love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, To Kill a Mockingbird, Narnia, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Animal Farm, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Moby Dick, The Hunger Games, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Bible.

Favourite movie is Pulp Fiction, although I love lots of things. I am a Lord of the Rings geek. Star Wars, Saving Private Ryan, Fight Club, Disney, Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, Toy Story, Avatar, American History X, oh so many, so so many. I watch so many movies.

Favourite TV Shows... South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Stargate, House, The Office, The Apprentice, Breaking Bad, Adventure Time.

Favourite Youtube Subscriptions... Phillip DeFranco, Ray William Johnson, Community Channel, CollegeHumor, The Onion, Vlog Brothers.

Favourite music... I hardly know. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Fall Out Boy, Coldplay, Eminem, Blink 182, Frank Turner, McFly. There's loads more but I honestly love everything.

I went skydiving once! I don't understand.

When I was in Jordan I was shouted at by an Arab who thought I was American right at the start of the Iraq War. Then I told him I was Irish and suddenly we were best friends. Sorry America.

Then there was that time in Las Vegas where I won $200, that's a lot of money for me because I'm from Ireland where we still use candles to make our TVs work. The next night I lost it all, go me.

Or that time in Budapest when I went to a rave party in an ancient Turkish bathhouse. That's like a swimming pool with a DJ and strobe lights and everyone's dancing in beach clothes. Pretty cool right? Wrong. Really cool!

Road tripping across America with my brother. New York, Chicago, Boulder, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. What a rush!

I will teach you about Ireland, where the Sun is always shining, where the air smells like white roses, where sweets grow on trees and where people throw money at you from their windows!!

I will also teach you that even if my Couchsurfing Profile says that I am in Glasgow, or York, or Carrickfergus, or anywhere that isn't Belfast; I'm actually just in Belfast. I promise, I am in Belfast.
