ABOUT ME

Hi everyone! I'm David! I am an outgoing, friendly and positive person. I have a professional job in International Student Recruitment and Marketing at a University in Perth, Western Australia. I am also a researcher, completing my PhD at a Melbourne-based University.

I love travelling, learning new languages and above all meeting new people. One of my greatest pleasures in life is to learn about the culture of others, to see how they think and see the world. I love learning about how other people think, live and what they believe in.

I have a particular passion for anything to do with Latin America and Southern European countries as I speak Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. In saying that, I love travelling to places in the world and in recent years I have been travelling more and more in Asia and absolutely loving it! I am a beginner in Mandarin :)

I like to look after myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and have a healthy diet.

For those who are staying in my apartment in Melbourne, I hope you have an amazing time! I hope you feel at home in my place and you enjoy the building's stunning facilities and great location with access to everything! Melbourne is considered our cultural capital of Australia so please enjoy it and have a lot of fun!

For those who are hosting me in their places, please know that I treat every place with the upmost respect. I am very quiet and VERY VERY clean and tidy. I treat every place as if it was my own. I am a very active traveller so I am always out and about so I am hardly in the place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in Perth, Western Australia but I own an Airbnb in Melbourne, Victoria. If I have the opportunity to do so, I would like to host people. However, it may be hard for me to do so sometimes so I am very open to meeting up with travellers for a drink and have the opportunity to show them around Perth.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my best travel experiences have been through couchsurfing. For me, it is not so much about the money but about the experience of meeting local people and learning about their culture.

Interests

My main interests are travel, going to the beach and going to them gym. Travelling!!! Going to the beach (and anything to do with water), staying fit and going to the gym skiing, bush walking, running, cycling, 4 wheel driving, going out with friends and having a good time, Australian football, Soccer (football - go Juventus!!), learning new languages, eating & cooking, reading, talking and listening to people especially from other cultures!!

Music, Movies, and Books

The Bible, Italian & French books! - I like mainly expository texts! Back to the future (all 3 of them), the Passion, My big fat Greek wedding, Star Wars, Terminator's, Beneath clouds, Pet Detective, Home Alone, La bella vita, King of Kings, Goodbye Lenin & any type of film (especially foreign) that makes me think! Seinfeld, Sliders, Hey Hey it's Saturday (when it was on!), the Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, CSI, Aussie footy matches when they are on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled all through Europe right across to Russia and travelled through the United States and South America. Next is Asia as I am currently learning Mandarin!
