Overview
About Me
I, Dawn, am filling out the information but our household includes myself and my husband Andy. Our adult children have encouraged us to join this site. We are in our 50's and enjoy being welcoming guests. We love the idea of hosting adventurers and world travelers into our home. We enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures and have spent a lot of time travelling internationally ourselves. I work in theatre at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Andy works in forestry.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We want to host people and welcome them into our community here in Ashland, Oregon. We have three adult children who are active travelers and are on the site. They have experienced the kindness of strangers on their adventures and we want to return the favor. We have a daughter volunteering in Africa, a son riding a bicycle across South America and another son who hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail and stayed with generous hosts along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
Eclectic music tastes from 60's and 70's rock to 80's new wave and punk to current Alt Rock. Worked my way through college working at record stores - still go to concerts and festivals when I can fit it in! My comfort music is female vocalists - Joni Mitchell, Macy Gray, Tracy Chapman, Alice Merton, Lourde.... It is really hard to name favorites of anything, they change from moment to moment but we spend time in the evenings reading, going to movies, streaming Netflix... We are big fans of Jimmy Chin, just watched Meru.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing experiences we have had recently have been traveling. My husband Andy and I did a three week self-driving tour of Botswana and experienced the heartbeat of that country in the most beautiful way. The experience of camping and hearing lions in the distance and elephants and hippos tromping around our tent was incredible. I also traveled to South Africa with my daughter Claire and made some connections with people in the townships of Cape Town that were deep. She is still volunteering there.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to connect people to the art at the Oregon Shakepeare Festival. If you enjoy theatre, I am happy to share information about what we do.
