ABOUT ME

I'm a discombobulated human being who has spent almost her whole life in Missouri, United States. I'm a human-rights interested, feminist, learning-addicted college student with a passion for travelling and a need for life experiences. I love learning about human behavior, but have an odd interest in economics that never really made sense, but you do what you love. Anything else needed, just ask!

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life by a poem I memorized in seventh grade -- the Desiderata by Max Ehrmann. Check it out, to see all of what I dream of being. By the end of my life, I want to believe this line whole-heartedly -- "With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world." I believe travel will be my way to do that.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I'm just scouting out places I can go in the future. Travel is imminent, but not here yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couch-surfed myself, but we have a lot of couches at home that guests are perpetually using. Whether it's a planned trip or saving someone from a tornado, we try and be prepared like a little hotel.

Interests

I'm interested in natural and irregular beauty. I like to seek out natural landmarks and nerd-out in amateur photography. I'm incredibly interested in travelling the world (primarily Europe and Northern Africa) to learn languages and culture, as well as give back. I have a passion for volunteering, and that's something I want to do while traveling, to make my journey more worthwhile.

Music, Movies, and Books

Book- and movie-wise, I'm a huge nerd. I like things like Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes (especially Sherlock, or anything from the BBC). I'm also a fan of action, like Ender's Game or James Bond. I love musical movies, like Les Mis or Singing in the Rain.

Musically, it all started with the The Fray and branched into Alternative Rock. I like Mumford & Sons probably too much, and Passenger has been the soundtrack of study abroad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've seen was in Denver, Colorado, at the Rocking Mountain National Park. We climbed a ways up one of the mountains and sat to watch the sunset. The lights turned every cloud a different color. That's the image that's trapped in my mind.
