About Me

Instagram: @alennadawn

I’ve been living in Manila and working remotely in the tech industry. Although, my hometown in the Philippines is Batangas (southern tip of Luzon, 2 hours away from Manila). I was an exchange student in South Korea and Taiwan in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

I value conversations, the good ones though, involving humor where you'll be able to laugh at yourself, natural flow of communication, culture in general and even specific, social issues, staying healthy, and most especially the freedom to think out of the box.

Apart from this, I do sports like martial arts, cycling, and hiking. Generally, I am a very active person who loves to do activities that require one's adrenaline rush.

You would see me at my simplest in my day to day life. However, I also love dressing up; painting my lips red and putting on some high heels occasionally.

In a nutshell, I am a restless, analytical, and opinionated person. No, a dirty joke doesn't easily offend me and I can even dish out one of my own. However, a great level of respect is important at all times. I would define myself as independent, however far from being a feminist. I support equality. Sarcasm is a spice of life, so bring it on.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel– I always find time to travel. Personally, I believe that discovering places, people and cultures are the highlights of traveling.

Interests

Through my past experience in journalism, I developed my love for the surprise of the unknown. As a life learner, the harmony of the world around me fascinates me. In order to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, I read a lot about politics, social issues, culture, travels, and especially people.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste of music varies from moods and activities. Generally, I love classical music. All kinds of classical instruments from different eras and countries are very much adored. Though I also enjoy listening to pop and newly released hits, I prefer to play these kinds during workouts and such.

Horror movies are certainly movies I would pick. But then, I watch any genre and criticize on a movie's quality. Some of the movies I found interesting are Frequencies, The Theory of Everything, and A Beautiful Mind.

For all the years I've spent on reading books, I came to love the works of Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, and Jane Austen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I believe that volunteering on social work was one of the most amazing things I've done. I was touched by the lives of the kids I've been with and their stories have influenced changes in my personal life.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of the things I could share is my knowledge and skills on martial arts specifically Taekwondo. I've been a Taekwondo jin since I was thirteen and have been playing the sport competitively for years now. I am more than willing to impart what I have learned.

Moreover, I can teach English and Filipino languages to those who want to learn it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my life experiences with the hosts. Through conversations, I would be able to narrate my story and also hear their own.

As a couch surfer, I would be glad to help out with anything the hosts need assistance with as long as I am capable to do so.
