I'm an 18 year old former high school student from Canada. I took a year off to work, travel, and gain some life experience before heading on to university to study math. While travelling I want to make a point of meeting and talking to locals as a way of really experiencing and understanding a culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and experience new things. Meeting and spending time with locals seems to me to be the best of actually understanding a culture. While seeing the sites is fun, doing so often doesn't compare with the opportunity to talk and spend time with people who actually live and work in an area and who can show you the less touristy side of things.

Interests

I love conversation, reading, and music. I'm currently learning guitar and would like to try piano as well. My main love for music lies in listening to it though. I spend a lot of time researching and discovering new artists. As for reading, I tend towards history books and fiction, however the fiction I read is never fantasy or science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked all the way from Koblenz to Rudesheim along the Rheinsteig trail. I wanted to see all the small medieval villages and massive palaces, I also wanted to copy Patrick Leigh Fermour in his book "A Time of Gifts" in which he walked the entire length of the Rhine.
