Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Back from Asia... will be in the EU for at least another year

ABOUT ME

I live in Germany and am a total expat... Ich spreche Deutsch fast fliessend aber ich moechte mein Deutsch immer verbessern! Wenn du Deutsch auch kannst, schreib mir an :-)
I left America for the first time in my life after graduating high school, and finally went back to visit after more than two years abroad. Now I'm back in Germany and after studying for 2 years, I have taken this year off to travel around, teach English, and learn about myself and the world through some crazy, wonderful, horrible, life changing experiences. I'm strong believer that there really is no such thing as being 'American, German, Australian' and the corresponding... at the end of the day, we're all just humans and the EARTH is our home!!! (Hope that's not too hippy for ya). But yeah, I try to be aware and educated about the problems going on in our over-worked, overcrowded, overpolluted world, but I also try to be as positive as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

This section is a little intimate, aye? I suppose my personal philosophy is that its acquisition is a journey... All I can tell you is what I think now, and that I'm not sure what tomorrow's experience will shape my current thoughts into. I try to stay as open minded and mentally/"spiritually" flexible as possible.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Normally, I stick to events within the Stuttgart area. I'm up to meet if there's an event that interests me, and I'm not afraid to post when I have some inside-expat event info... I love meeting new people especially after meeting so many great CSers... awesome site!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Tried it once, but the girl flaked out (once I had arrived, when it was raining and cold and everything was closed -- but it all worked out!!!)
Tried again and had an awesome time with a student in the Hague during the Films that Matter Festival... It was great!
I also had a couchsurf-like experience in Barcelona and that was positive!

Intereses

I love traveling and meeting new people and hearing great stories (why else am I on this site?)
I love FOOOOOOD!
I love to dance and sing and surround myself with people who like to be happy, people who do what they love or are on their way!
I also paint and am pretty bad on the guitar and slightly better on piano. I love to swim and bike and hike and breathe!

Música, películas y libros

I love to read (ex English lit major over here). There's almost always a book in my hand... hmm ok favorites... Life of Pi, Into the Wild, The Centenarian Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared, Peter Pan, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Alice in Wonderland, Half the Sky, I am Malala, Anything by Bill Bryson (most notably A Short History of Nearly Everything and I'm a Stranger Here Myself)
.... I left a lot of books out, so if you decide to contact me, please include your favorite book!

Music.... ok sorry, I hate electronic/house/whatever that noise is. Some people tried to teach me about it in Thailand, but its seriously like my brain just cannot connect. I'm a 90s alternative girl, a reggae girl, a blues and jazz girl. I like real instruments, lyrics are optional, but I do enjoy to sing and dance. Had to start with music I don't connect to because basically outside of that I like everything.

Movies... I like documentaries (nature and politics) and kids movies (Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, Wreck-It Ralph)

Algo increíble que he hecho

Soo many stories! Just returned from Thailand after teaching Cambodian refugees for 6 weeks... At the end, I wanted to go north and did over 1,000km in one go just to get there. It was a positive experience!

One time I was in Costa Rica and it was the first time I'd ever left my little bubble in the states aka I had never seen stray dogs before. The first stray dog I saw, I thought was someone's pet, so I started petting him and cooing him, and as soon as I stopped, he bent down and slurped up dead sloth remains off the road. Let's just say it's something I've never forgotten.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I like meeting people that are totally different than me, but care about the same things I do... boiled down, the earth, the people and animals on it, and how we can affect it positively.
For example, how great is it to meet someone who lives on the complete other side of the earth, but is just as passionate as you about nature?
I met a girl recently who had traveled through India and learned Macrame... We spent four days together and she taught me about the power of stones. Since then, I keep moon stone and Carnelian around my neck. Soo uhh yeah... I like people like that! Who bring something totally out there into my life and are passionate about what they do!
