Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learning new things, becoming a better person and a better professional, showing respect and empathy and enjoying the opportunities that life may bring
ABOUT ME
I am Pablo Moreno, a Ph. D Student in Ecology at UF (Gainesville). Originally from Madrid, Spain but love to move around as much as I can. I have lived in Montréal for 6 months and in Lund (Sweden) for a year. I have also had the opportunities to travel around Europe, North America and Southeast Asia. Traveling for me is an opportunity to discover a new culture and to meet new people and places. In fact, my scholarship is aimed to promote cultural exchange. I really enjoy Nature, this is one of the main reasons I chose Ecology. I would love to paint and read much more than I do, but grad life can be busy.
PHILOSOPHY
The key for future is not on the foolish growth but in the promotion of tolerance, peace and respect to the Environment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to meet new people. i enjoy showing people around, getting them to know more about the place I live in (USA) or the place I come from (Spain). I also like the experience that meeting locals at a place can bring you, to discover how is life in different places without the filter of 'sightseeing'. I may Couchsurf at times and possibly be able to host sometimes (I would need to agree with my roommates).
Interests
I really enjoy traveling and getting to discover new cultures, people and places.
I am doing my Ph. D in Ecology, so I definitely enjoy Nature, going for walks, learning about the natural heritage of a place.
I used to read and paint, but now grad school limits a lot my free time.
I love sweet food, which is probably terrible. However, I generally enjoy trying cuisines from different parts of the World, Italian is my favorite but I really enjoy Indian, West and South African, or Mediterranean-Arab.
I love to go out with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I generally enjoy movies with some social context such as 'Crash', '12 years of Slavery', '7 Pounds', 'Requiem for a Dream' but I also love fantastic movies such as 'Spirited Away', 'Big Fish' or 'Lady in the Water'. I really like Horror movies nights, but I haven't seen many that were actually scary, some like 'The Amytiville Horror' or 'IT' are actually fine though.
I used to read much more, I'd say that my favorite books are '1984' and 'Brave New World, and possibly my favorite novelist is Yasmina Khadra. However, I also enjoy fantastic books such as the 'Harry Potter', 'Shannara', 'Alice in Wonderland', crime novels such as the ones by Mary Higgins Clark, Camilla Läckberg or adventures such as Dan Brown's.
My music taste depends on the mood, I am listening to more Electronic mixed with R&B like Rudimental or Sinead Harnett but I also love Rock concerts, dancing to Latin music or House or listening to a good Jazz performance. My favorite group used to be Black Eyed Peas as a teen and I still enjoy many of their songs as well as Fergie's last solo.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2012 I was working with a NGO in Cambodia, we organized camps for kids that otherwise would be working mainly in landfills. It was a really fulfilling experience and I can't wait to be back :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to share things about my culture and to learn more from different ones. I am fascinated by languages. I used to study languages more actively, but I haven't been able since I started grad school. Spanish is my mother tongue, I am fluent in English and kind of fluent in French. I know a bit of German.
