About Me
I live in Phuket town and know Phuket quite well. I prefer quality over quantity in life. I eat vegetarian and ride bicycles and try to live a middle path life. Nature and culture interest me. I'm generally good fun and entertaining if the mood strikes me. As far as CS I'm a great guide if you want to see local style and sights; learn some history. I"m born in USA and have lived in Europe and Asia for over 20 years. If you want to catch me hit me on whatsapp which you can find on my photos. Cheers and enjoy Phuket :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me CS is almost dead. I see a fear among people these days. Seems many guys are here to try to score with girls. Hey news to you. Lots of girls do it too but guys don't complain about it haha. Anyway I don't have a problem with it. The issue is more of one of intention. One's intention as a host is to offer a safe and pleasant environment. What happens beyond that or not should be consensual and mutual. Girls if a guy shows interest respectfully no need to get all upset and throw a fit. If you're not interested take it as a compliment and decline politely. No offense needed. If you have issues with it then don't stay with guys.
I reckon there are a few different types on CS these days. Most of them use it as a social account to mainly meet other travelers to go out for drinks and party. I find that rather sad as the entire point of CS is to experience the local scene. Another type is the one that just looks for a free room and then a free guide around then island. These are usually young girls that use their looks to get what they want. One recently contacted me and all she wanted to know if I had a motorbike and wanted to "explore" the island. In other words she wanted me to drive her around for free because her host didn't have time. These types just use people to get what they want. Why would you stay with a host that didn't have time for you? And why would someone host if you don't have time for your guest? These attitudes destroy CS for me. I was using CS before it was popular years ago before it became a corporation. I suppose there are still "real" CSers out there but frankly I don't see them around. But who knows. I have met some cool people on hangouts but I deleted that because seems it always becomes drinking events.
So I used to host a lot in Poland before on another account. Wow how CS has changed. Frankly I kind of give up on CS now. Rarely does anyone write me back and almost no one requests. Anyway if you want to contact me try me on WhatsApp. At least in Phuket. It seems to be little more than people wanting to go out and get drunk (hangouts), looking for tourist information without actually meeting, or people just looking for a free place to stay because of location. Sad... Anyway if you're not one of the above and actually agree that CS is about staying at people's houses and taking part in their life as a local then contact me. If you don't want to stay that's ok too. If you've got no money and need free place to stay just say it. Better to be straight than try to BS me haha. If you want to contact me you can also try my WhatsApp which is in my photos. I'm not on this site very often anymore.
