ABOUT ME

TEMPORARY NOTE: Having actively attended the protests and occupy movement in Istanbul throughout June 2013, I am eager to tell any CSer about my experience here.

I was born and grew up in Istanbul where I left in September 2013 to study for a Masters's degree in London. Studying full-time in this city requires a lot of work, so I am often reading/writing in my room.

I believe my field of study looms large in other areas of my life too. Having decided that I should study politics when I was 13, I succeeded in this goal. Though gradually my interests transform, I can confidently say that I would not be able to study anything else than politics. I am now quite into European affairs as well as postcommunist countries.

Wheat beer (Weissbier as the Germans call it) is one of the things I love. Oh, chips with vinegar flavour are adorable too. Both available in the UK luckily.

I came to be interested in postcards a few years ago. I have now considerable amount of stamped postcards in my humble collection (This is the reason why flea markets are must-visit for me in any place I go on earth). Also, I am a member of the Postcrossing project.

Listening to Monocle 24 Radio is something I enjoy much. I have discovered Monocle magazine back in 2011. Although I may not afford the lifestyle it envisages, I do value their devotion.

I don't smoke and am not interested in cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

I think that my music interest shifted throughout last couple of years from a somewhat hard rock to blues. I am now a big fan of Joe Bonamassa. 1970s and 1980s are still the times the best music was produced to me. Mark Knopfler, Sting, Jethro Tull are some of the bands I can think of at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Hitchhiking from Istanbul to Sofia and from Sofia to Istanbul.

-Turkey's protests in 2013.
