I am working to have fun, meet great people, develop myself as part of a great community, enjoy life, and make the world around me a better place.

ABOUT ME

I am a mix of an introvert and an extrovert who is pretty constantly utilizing life to make myself & the world a better place to be. I have been organizing young people together around justice issues for all of my adult life through student organizing. I'm a great one for talking to - but I enjoy having my own space as well. I travel around WV a lot and am damn happy / proud to be living here.

Anyways -- just talk to me if you want to stay here. I may need space if the organizing world is real stressful, but all that depends on what's going on.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a changing & educational process. Sometimes the change is great, sometimes it sucks - change affects us in different ways. Two quotes have been sticking in my mind recently - "Grow where you're planted" & "Wherever you are is where you're supposed to be"

This isn't so much of a philosophy as an understanding that my goal is to be happy and healthy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can offer a couch / floor space for folks who need a place to stay in Charleston, WV. I sometimes need a space to crash myself if I'm traveling out of state - but that's rare.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None right now with this website -- but that's why I signed up. I've hosted PLENTY of people at my apartment and been hosted by PLENTY of people. So, I guess I'm just pitching in and doing my part.

An amazing thing I've done in my lifetime has been expanding the annual 4th of July picnic up on Kayford Mountain from a small event to a full on festival that brings out hundreds every year to celebrate Appalachia and our resistance to Mountaintop Removal. It's been a great time with great music and I'm proud that I've done it.

Teach: can share information about what's going on with Mountaintop Removal and other coal / energy issues in West Virginia. Can share historical knowledge of West Virginia's resistance to out-of-state corporations & how Mountaintop Removal is affecting our state. Can share knowledge of how to do some basic flatfooting steps. Can share a generally positive outlook on life.

Learn: Want to learn hands-on skills is car repair/maintenance, gardening skills, yoga skills, and lots of other areas of life.
