Hello, my name is Jonathan Moreira. I grew up in Everett, Massachusetts, right outside of Boston. I'm the youngest of 4 boys, my mom is Irish-Italian-American, and my father was Portuguese but grew up in Angola and Cape Verde, coming to the US at 32 y/o.

For the last 6.5 years I've lived in Chicago, IL. I work in the hospitality industry for a local restaurant group. I'm a chef! I love to cook, share delicious food with others and learn about different cultures via their cuisine. I also really enjoy learning and practicing new languages in order to connect with other people. At the moment, I speak Spanish decently well and I'm getting better daily. I'd love to explore Portuguese also.

When I'm not working, I like to be active in the city exploring different and new neighborhoods, riding my bike around town to appreciate beautiful local architecture and all the hidden gems Chicago has to offer. I haven't done a ton of traveling in my life but I look forward to how couchsurfing could help me change that.

I'm on couchsurfing so that I can connect with other people around the world. I really look forward to visiting other places, both domestically and internationally, and learning about them through the members on the platform. Also, I'd love to experience a new area through the eyes of a local, learning how they live and gaining a deeper connection to a destination. Lastly, I love to cook so it'd be cool to share that with others. Whether it's me cooking a special meal for hosts or learning about the local food scene from others, I look forward to all possibilities.
