About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work hard, play hard. Both preferably in the sun.

ABOUT ME

Enthusiastic and positive-minded, I'm not someone to complain quickly. Sharp and loud, or absent. I frequent the outdoors and inner worlds. I love hearing and creating stories. I guess that's why I became a biologist, because the world is so full of exceptionally weird stuff.

Most of the time I'll be hosting/travelling with my partner in love/crime Beat (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/o-beat), but that's ok, he's cool too ;-)

PHILOSOPHY

I'll start walking once I can't run anymore.

Not a philosophy of my own making, but one I want to adhere to:
There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been an active CSer now for a while, and I loving it. Anything to increase trust between people in this world which, sadly, seems to be lacking in so many places. One global village is my mission.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This anecdote actually predates my CS.org era.
On our way to Budapest, a friend and I hitched a ride to Prague. I convinced the guy in taking us in his van by counting to 9 and say "Next stop ..." in Czech. His English was little better. After verbally abusing his mother-in-law through his phone (and doing a shot-gun mime on it so we could understand it as well) he decided he liked us and invited us over to his place 2 hrs outside of Prague. We had already decided that we liked him, so after a few days in Prague we took the train to his village. He would pick us up in his car from the little train station.
After waiting for a while at the deserted train station we saw an unknown car approaching. Behind the wheel was our Czech friend, enthusiastically waving at us, with both his hands. This resulted in him crashing into a huge advertising board. As he got out, unhurt, me and my friend were both in shock, but he just turned around to his heavily dented car and said "Bwah, car of mother-in-law."
We staid a week in his village and loved every bit of it. We met loads of his friends and his lovely family, though never the mother-in-law.
