About Me

Hey, everyone! It has been 3 years since I'm not here and I decided to come back to the platform because why not and I really missed the time where I met new people, learning about the city I'm visiting and the culture!! And if I can be more honest is also because I finally have the time and braveness after pandemic and settling confidently with my studies and jobs (in short adulting :’>)

As it has been a while, this profile now belongs to me and my partner, Thomas; so hello from us!

I’m Dea and from Indonesia. When I was 18, I moved to Romania to do my Bachelor and now I’m in the last year of my Master (wohoow soon to be graduated!) :’) In my free time I try to learn how to make video games, go to old cinemas and play board games over drinks and snacks with my friends! (I’m currently addicted to 7 Wonders :P)

Thomas is French from the region where it has a good pride of cheese called “Comté”. Besides working as a Technical Writer, he goes climbing, swimming, squashing and playing board games with Dea!

We both live in Nice, France and if you are interested in hiking, trekking and the climbing (or doing those in a day :P), we can take you to some good spots ;) or if you just want chilling on the beach, visiting Nice and cities around, local perfumeries and so on then we will be happy to join you too (if we have the time :P)

During summer, we kinda do a bit routine in going to some music festivals around Europe, so we may not able to host in some weeks but maybe we can do/plan tentsurfing hihihi :D

P.s. we cannot wait to meet you (new people)! because we always love to learn about new cultures, cool/funny/scary stories, etc. Over drinks or good foods or (mostly) both ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Trying something that we have never done before and making more of our adventurous time while we are still in Europe.
We really love to meet and talk with people from different country and different cultures. We are curious about stories from people and their countries, it’s just fascinating to listen to them.

Plus, we finally will try interalling in Europe and would love to use this way of transporting in the future so would love to stop in some cities, creating new friends and visiting them again :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I currently read all about self-development books and sometimes classics even though I tend to forget everything that I read, except one, The little Prince. It’s my childhood book, my late dad used to read it for me. So, to remember him, every time I go to another country I will buy the book in local language :D

Music: I have quite diverse taste of music hahaha I love to karaoke from ABBA songs to AC/DC and songs that were played on MTV in 2000s xD. Lastly, the only label that I can put for myself is I’m still emo girl after all because I’m extremely excited of the return of My Chemical Romance.

Movies: it's really hard but if i have to preach "Everything Everywhere All At Once" is in my #1 then "My Neighbour Totoro" :P

(P.S. I ALREADY SAW MCR LIVE!!!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dea: I swam at night in the sea for the first time……. got stung by jellyfish and almost lost consciousness :’> But got a nice mark from the stung \^o^/

Thomas: I did wwoofing where I became a farmer in Wales for a month. Took care of the animals, build a greenhouse, gardening and had a lot of fun ^^

Both: Transitioning to be a plant-based eater (except when travelling to new countries/got invited by someone who cooked foods from their countries, even though one day we really want to be fully vegan!) !

Teach, Learn, Share

We will teach you how to make nutritious plant-based foods or indonesian/french foods and play some board games ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love to cook! We will try our best to cook some Indonesian foods (usually as main dish) or French foods (Thomas loves to bake/make desserts) if we find the ingredients otherwise we usually just try to improvise from the base ingredients that we could find ;)

Countries I’ve Visited
