About Me

CURRENT MISSION To learn about cultures and norms that are different from mine. To continue to be a more open minded and loving person. To meet people from around the world!
.
ABOUT ME

I'm from San Diego, California. I am 28 years old. I received a B.A. in International Relations/Studies from University of California, Irvine. During my last semester of university, I decided to studied abroad in Florence, Italy until December 2016. After my study abroad I decided to travel another 3 months in Europe. I went to Paris, Barcelona, Cordoba (to visit my best friend from California, Sevilla, Cordoba, Barcelona (volunteered for a non-profit here), then London for a week, and then back to California.

After almost 2 years in California, I decided to move to Granada, Spain to teach English. I was in Granada for two years and another two years in Madrid.

I'm very talkative person. I love traveling, the ocean, playing volleyball, taking photos, eating food, drinking coffee, tea, beer, tinto de veranos con limon, sangria, etc. . I can be very calm but I also know how to be the party ;-) I tend to be the guy who makes everyone laugh and I try my hardest to be nice to everyone I meet.

PHILOSOPHY I'm a firm believer in karma so definitely treat others the way you want to be treated. Be as open minded as possible because it allows you to grow as an individual. Travel as much as possible because it's an extremely rewarding experience. You regret the things you didn't do than the things you actually did.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working with five year old Italian children in an Italian elementary when I was studying in Florence. It was a fun and rewarding experience because I was teaching them English as they taught me Italian. I throughly enjoyed when I came to class every Tuesday and all the kids would run up to me and yell "DeAndre!!!!!" I'm gonna miss them so much.
.
Choosing to study abroad and then to travel after. With taking this course of action, I have been able to meet people from all over the world. Everyone I have met has shared their experiences and cultures with me as I'm always open to hear learn about new cultures.
.
Working for a non profit in Barcelona for a month where we are building a socio cultural center in the district called Nou Barris. It's been a lot of hard work so far but very much rewarding. It's great knowing that you're making a difference in someone else's life.

Doing two years of teaching English in an elementary school + one year of teaching in an English academy. It’s a nice feeling being able to help children learn a foreign language! Love this experience thus far!

Volunteering in a surf hostel in Gijón (Spain) for a month and a half in August and September 2022. Met amazing people, learned how to surf for the first time in my life, and overall had one of the best summers before moving back to California.
