Overview
About Me
I grew up in Aurora, OH. I went to a small college in Tennessee. I studied Natural Resources (Forestry and Geology) and French. Since I graduated, I've worked as a cashier, a helper at an engineering company, and making pizzas. I want to work in soil and water conservation.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like the album "The Con" by Tegan and Sara. I also like most music by Simon & Garfunkel. I recently heard the album "Wrecking Ball" by Emmylou Harris, and I liked that, too.
I've been thinking about "Fight Club" recently. I also like "Off the Map" directed by Campbell Scott.
I like books about farming like "Turn Here Sweet Corn" and "The Encyclopedia of Country Living". I like "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", both the books and the movies. I liked "The Handmaid's Tale" and "Brave New World".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ran a marathon in 2012. I took 2 hours for the first half...and 3 hours for the second half. The last 6 miles felt eternal. It was still a good experience, and I went with a group of people from college, which was a good thing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I took 5 years of French in high school and about 4 more years in college. I haven't used it recently, but I could share some of what I learned.
I took an introductory Spanish class recently. I would like to learn more Spanish.
I can knit (I'm a beginner, but I've made socks before) and I can show someone who doesn't know how to knit. I've also used a pressure canner to can food and I've made some fermented foods (sourdough bread, sauerkraut, fermented dilly beans...mostly easy things) and I can share how to do some of that.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring food or help with cooking or cleaning up from meals. I don't know if hosts normally eat with guests, and it would definitely be OK if guests are normally on their own for food.
I can talk with hosts, if they want to spend time talking. I like to learn about new people.
