About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just started a law practice in Ottawa. The focus is Criminal, Family and Refugee law, but I also assist with immigration issues and recently landlord/tenant matters.

ABOUT ME

I have the travel bug. From Europe, to Australia, to Asia, to Africa, to the Caribbean.... I started in Canada, traveled to Alaska, backpacked Europe, worked in Scotland, then moved to Australia to study. After traveling Australia and covering a large part of Asia, I spent 5 months working in Kenya for the UNODC, with assisting the Somali pirates.

I then moved back to Canada before leaving for Barbados, where I worked as a travel journalist while I awaited the results of my Canadian exams and prepared for the next steps with being called to the bar in Ontario (five months). I now live in Ottawa, Canada where I am starting my practice.

PHILOSOPHY

I think it is important to live a life without regrets, chase your dreams and never be the one to look back thinking 'what if?' We live in an amazing world and only through knowing it better and doing what we can, will it be a better place for those to follow. Every little bit helps, so never be discouraged.

"always have a dream which is longer than a lifetime"- Jack Layton

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do."- Steve Jobs

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up" Thomas Edison

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, surf, attend events randomly....in whichever capacity I can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have participated as a host, surfer and through attending random functions/get togethers. The friendships I have gained through the many poistive encounters I have experienced have only led to further encourage me to participate more often. I look forward to learning of different cultures and helping other backpackers with their travels as they let me vicariously live through their stories while not on the road myself!

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While backpacking through Europe a friend and I took a train 600km north of the north pole into the artic circle and slept in an igloo on reindeer pelts.

Road trip from Ottawa Ontario to Alaska with two best friends before leaving Canada. Great way to catch up and bond with those I miss from back home. It was a great experience. Six weeks of laughter and fun as we built memories I will never forget.

In Fiji, I went on a shark dive where we swam within feet of bull sharks and grey nurses.

Australia-diving in South West Rocks, NSW; It was a cave dive filled will all sorts of marine life! Grey nurses, large turtles, sting rays and blue gropers! If you scuba dive, ask me about it! Diving in the Great Barrier Reef; Finding quakas in Rottenest Island, driving across the nullarbor;

Christmas 2011 I hiked the Annapurna circuit with one of my best friends who I haven't seen in years! It was 250 km up to 5416 meters, a trek to remember! It took awhile afterwards to say it, but it was probably one of the best adventures yet and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind wishing they were dead from time to time while traveling. haha

Lived in Kenya where work brought me to many Kenyan prisons. I spent most of my time with the Somali pirates and other prisoners, heard many interesting stories and saw many things...one of the best jobs to date. Work experience aside, it gave me a different perspective on life.

Dug a well for the village of Buguma in Tanzania, and spent weeks with a tribe without having a common language, yet seemed to communicate well.

Living in Barbados, teaching diving and writing for a travel magazine.

Starting a law practice in Canada!
