About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I haven't had to do one of these for a while. I'm pretty okay, if I say so myself. Haven't gotten to do as much traveling as I'd like these past few years (college, blah; poverty, blah), but the wanderlust's still here.

Writer: mostly a poet, but have written and published all kinds of shit (short fiction, criticism, editorials, translations, some music journalism).

Music, Movies, and Books

This hasn't been updated since I was like 19. Still mostly holds though.

Movies: Me And You And Everyone We Know, Punch Drunk Love, Magnolia, The Royal Tenenbaums, Dancer In The Dark, The Little Giants

Music: Joanna Newsom, Modest Mouse, Cursive, Neutral Milk Hotel, Frightened Rabbit, Joan of Arc, Tom Waits, Beirut, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Ryan Adams, Pedro The Lion, Ghost Mice, The Decemberists, Sigur Ros

Books: This Side Of Paradise, Nine Stories, Birds of America, Where I'm Calling From, Life After God, Jesus' Son, Crush, Kenneth Koch, Frank O'Hara, David Foster Wallace, Kafka, Chekhov, Hemingway, Less Than Zero, lots of lit journals

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It'd take so damn long. I got stories though. Boy do I got stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just gave a talk on publishing the other day! It was the weirdest thing: myself and 4 of my smelly, hungover, 20-something friends walking into this super-corporate arts council boardroom (in the Columbus CHASE BUILDING!), and totally rocking everyone's world. We got the best reviews of any of their roundtable discussions, I was told. So apparently I can offer that.

In honesty, I prefer craft and aesthetics conversations, but those tend to be more give-and-take than actual "teaching" experiences. I guess that'd be the "share" part. Let's share, y'all.
