About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living in Central New York State Finger Lakes region, in the small city/village of Auburn, New York which prides itself on being home to Harriet Tubman. Here I enjoy the green spaces, fresh water and air, the brisk cold beauty and whiteness of the snowy winters, all the while being nearby so as to be involved wth the developing lives and bountious spirits of my lovely and precious grandchildren.

ABOUT ME

Humble and gentle spirit with kind heart who tends always toward the underdog.

PHILOSOPHY

“There is a road from the eye to heart that does not go through the intellect.” GK Chesterton

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
No longer in China, back in the USA, was for a time in the Southest of the USA near Nashville, but since 2017 in Central New York State Finger Lakes area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted once in Chongqing, China, and was hosted once in Beijing. More recently I hosted a hitchhiker and a couple who were traveling by bike when I was living in Shanhaiguan. This was accomplished despite the restriction imposed by my employer, namely that I cannot have overnight guests. In the former case, the rules didn't get enforced for nearly two weeks......in the latter case, the couple stayed at the nearby hotel which is next to The First Pass Under Heaven of the Great Wall. During the day, we enjoyed going out for barbeque, and visiting Jiaoshan, one of the three sections of The Great Wall that are here in this area of Shanhaiguan.

Interests

Love languages and intercultural contact, animals, children, nature, music, art, swimming, knitting, and interested in learning all that I can about the healing qualities of food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love many different genres of music but some I've been crazy about include Layla Downes, Linda Ronstadt, Alanis Morrisette, Lilith Fair, los rancheros, Vicente Fernandez, lot's of music pieces from various places around the world: Middle Eastern, Brazilian, Swedish....and Mexican of course. I've found some pieces by unknown artists that I've loved to listen to as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having raised four children as a single mom, I feel I've defied the statistics that predict dismal life outcomes for children of single parent households. My four are living productive lives and are simply awesome people.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always love gentle spirited people who are able to view the world from varying perspectives.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Can engage with you in conversation in Northeast USA English. Also can practice together with you in Spanish and German language.
I'd be happy to cook for you and can offer you swimming lessons.
Can provide much insight into various aspects of life and society in the USA.
Some food specialties I could share with you: pigs feet, chicken feet, steamed pork buns, tamales and Mexican style salsa, home baked bread, traditional American quick breads, cakes, cookies and pies.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Spain, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Germany, Switzerland, United States
