Returning in October to serve my Palawan community after my Peace Corps service there.

ABOUT ME

Most of my friends admire me, but also wonder about me - at 59 I joined the US Peace Corps - a volunteer organization and lived in the Philippines for 2 years. I returned to America, but missed the simple life where I felt I had made a difference. So, I returned to the island of Palawan where I now live and work with the people I came to love. I am fairly adventurous, which is great if I'm with younger people, but I've not found folks my age who like to do the things I do (which don't include 5 star accommodations and room service!!). They would also say that I am easy to get along with, am a leader and am good at sharing responsibility while traveing.

Interests

My favorite thing to do is to snorkel in the warm Philippine waters, which I can do for literally hours. I love walking deserted beaches and looking for shells. I have always loved wildlife and am going to Borneo in January to see what I can find on the offbeaten path - I haven't made many plans yet and leave in a week! I also love learning about cultures and what is important to people - just a basic curiosity about life that I have always had. So, I love to see what happens in everyday life in other parts of the world - not the tourist show life, but real ife.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming with whale sharks here on Palawan - one of the top 10 in my life - awesome is an appropriate word.
