About Me

I love travelling and meeting new people, when I was travelling around Central America I met so many travelers along the way. One of them turned out to be my now best friend, and she was the one that introduced me to couch surfing. Although I have never been a member, we couch surfed in Brazil under her account, during the World cup and it was an amazing experience. The more I traveled, the more people I would met that were like minded and many of them also couch surfed. I went to countless count surfing events and met the most open minded, caring people. (This falls into the category of "why I'm on couchsurfing" too.)

I havent officially couch surfed, and completely new to the site, but I am planning a trip to Vancouver, Seattle and Alaska in 2.5 weeks!!! yes I know I've left this to the last minute as I do with most things, I really like the 'let's wing it' mentality- which apparently doesn't work in peak season travel - learning a lesson here. So I'm sorry that my profile isn't the greatest.

I should probably actually write a little "about me" as the subject heading suggests: I'm a nurse that is currently killing herself with work to travel, I have my eyes set out for some volunteer work in Africa, but would love to make that a big 6 month trip if i can- it's the last continent that I have not been too and I have a real love for all animals, to do conservation work with the endangered animals there would be an absolute dream. I love all things outdoors, I have recently got into long distance running and completed my first half marathon with a full one in sight for possibly next year. Love the sun, sand and salty water, as all West Aussies do, I love socializing, meeting new people, a few drinks don't go astray, I'm a friendly, happy and adventurous person and would love to keep seeing the world and learning from everyone I meet. Whoa! That's probably enough about me for now....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's great to be able to stay with locals as they are a world of knowledge on things to see and do that no guide book will ever tell you. I love the fact that people open up their homes and share their own lives and travel stories and adventures with complete strangers all around the world. I'm couch surfing to not only meet new people but to experience travel in a different way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tired of Perth and stuck doing the same thing, day in and day out. I decided to pack up and leave. In 2013 I sold everything I owned and donated the rest to charity and ventured on what ended up being a 20 month trip back packing around Central and South America, through to the USA, Caribbean, South East Asian and I was extremely lucky to get down to Antarctica! That was one of the highlights of my entire trip and if I could do it all again, I would pack up and leave in a heart beat. I met the most amazing people on my travels, stayed with the most hospitable host families and did some volunteer work to conserve our ever growing list of endangered animals. There were a few hiccups along the way, but I would not have changed any minute of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share my travel experiences, what I learnt on the way, tips on travels that I've done all over the world. I would also love to learn from other peoples experiences, to get some travel tips, to have others share their travel experiences with me. The good, the bad and the ugly or ridiculously remarkable things of travel are all the best when shared with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are travelling to any place I have been to before, I will happily share any knowledge I have of the place. I am a nurse, and although I am on holidays, I will offer free medical advise haha. I tend to just "fix/help" people everywhere I go. Once in the San Blas islands of panama, a coconut fell on someones head and knocked them out...yes a coconut! i didn't think this actually happened in real life. So I was called upon (my friend just screamed from the other side of the beach) to provide medical attention- she was totally fine by the way. but just goes to show that a nurse is a handy person to have around... just saying :)
