About Me

ABOUT ME

Hello. I am a photographer, artist, teacher, and have lived in Bristol UK with my two, now 'big' daughters, for13 years.
I am friendly, kind, sociable and I'm told that I am interesting :-). As a person I am generally interested in almost everything but I do love stuff about art and creativity especially when it has a philosophical approach - working out what that might be can be pretty interesting too! Anyway I am also happy to drink tea and talk about far off lands or what's going on down the road.

PHILOSOPHY

A quote from another CS person that I liked; I stand with both feet in life. I also believe in being kind, friendly and considerate. If I came to stay with you the bath would be left clean and I would help with the washing up. I appreciate a similar consideration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and to stay with people local to an area. I hate faceless hotels.

Interests

I am especially interested in art and ran an alternative art space in Bristol for 5 years, but I find most things interesting.
I love to travel, eat good food, and I love to dance.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is always hard, I like Wes Anderson films for their aesthetic but was a little bit disappointed with the Grand Budapest Hotel. I like a lot of foreign films but also like Pulp Fiction. Having said all that arty intellectual stuff I am quite happy watching a bit of Hollywood feel good or some action film!
Music, anything done well that is not overly repetitive, i.e. trance.
Books; easier to say what I don't like: too descriptive, - four lines to describe a tree blowing in the wind or the look of someone etc. I love books with good story lines that also teach me something. I like a book to make me think, although often the best books for this are theory books which can be quite hard work.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the early 1980's I travelled to China by train. It was a fascinating adventure. I aim to have more adventures like that in the future.

Sat in the sulphur springs in Italy, we just came across them by chance, it was a real dream to do that. It was FANTASTIC but we did smell pretty bad afterwards still nothing that a good shower couldn't cure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn and I love to teach. Brief photography lessons freely offered :-)
