About Me

I currently live in the Bay Area...specifically, Oakland. I used to work in San Francisco and now in Berkeley. I have now lived in the Bay Area for over a decade and absolutely love it up here. I used to do a lot of volunteering and had to cut that back when my job started becoming more challenging. At home, I enjoy spending time with the people closest to me usually over meals, drinks, or other low key activities. I'm not nearly as social as I was when I first joined CS but still enjoy meeting and interacting with new people. California is a beautiful state so I do try to go to more local places to visit. I typically try to take 1-2 2-4 week trips out of the country every year. I am easy going and liberal minded.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS close to 10 years ago at this point. I attended some local events, hosted a bit, surfed a bit, and met a ton of cool people who are all interested in travel. I'm sad that I took a break from CS and now have a 76% couch request response rate. :-( However, I do not currently use it as a tool for surfing or hosting - mostly just meeting people where I am traveling.

Interests

I love traveling but at home I am more low key and tend to spend time with those closest to me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise: I am pretty open. I often listen to the radio when I am in my car so that takes care of all of the popular rock, alternative, electronic, hip hop, and pop.

Books: I like non-fiction or close to non-fiction books (like David Sedaris). I find them very interesting. I otherwise have noticed that I have been reading a lot of management and business types of books recently that may sound boring but I have really enjoyed such as "Difficult Conversations" and "Switch." I don't read a lot of fiction or fantasy though have enjoyed those in the past.

Movies: Boyhood, V for Vendetta, Batman movies (Christian Bale ones), others...

TV: Dexter, The Wire, Weeds, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Halt and Catch Fire

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swim in the Blue Grotto in Italy? Hike the Inca Trail? Explore the Temples of Angkor? Too many.

Teach, Learn, Share

This is a hard one. I don't think I have a specific skill that I could teach. I could help with English if you're willing to teach me phrases in other languages.
