About Me

Hi guys,
I'm Hyunseo Kang. I'm from South Korea. I'm 24 years old. I'm an university student in Seoul.
I lived in Seoul for almost of my life. Now, I'm in Dortmund, Germany for my exchange student. I'm loving my time here. For me, everything is so exciting.
Among numerous quotes, my favorite one is a one made by a american author. It goes like this;"If you've been doing what you've been doing, you'll keep getting what you've been getting." I like this phrase, though it's a bit cliche, because it gives me confidence when I'm a bit hesitant in doing something.
I love to have new experiences, love to make new friends.
So I'll say my hobby is to find somethings that I haven't done before. I'm open to new challenges, I love making new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Three years ago, I had a trip all over the Europe. It may sounds fancy. But trust me, it wasn't fancy at all. It was called package program, I don't know you guys would have it here. It took me only 25 days in whole Europe. When I was traveling through Eastern part of the Europe, I took a 3600 kilometers of bus. It was crazy. It was merely 'crossing-off-landmarks.' Though the view was magnificent and people were so nice, I felt so distant from the scene. It was just like seeing a photograph(a well-taken one). I hated that program. It was nothing like the trip of my imagination. I hope I could mingle in with the people there and learn, teach about the culture and have fun. I still have a deep aspiration of a trip of those kind. I hope, through this, we can really bond and have a intercultural experience and friendship.

Interests

Those are pretty much all I love. It's cool though to try new things.

  • rock music
  • extreme sports
  • old movies
  • watching football

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, I'm not that picky about the music. But I kind of love the classical rock music, such as Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, U2, Queen, Nirvana, Beatles. That doesn't mean I don't like modern music. Among modern musics I also like Coldplay, Adele, Noel Gallagher. As I say from above, I'd like to try some new music. After I came to Germany, I'm trying some new German musics also.
Movie is more easy to pick. My favorite movie is 'LEON.' It's a film about a lonely killer who somehow lives with a little girl. It's a classic movie. I really love the vibe of the movie and the last scene of the movie is just unspokable. Even if you don't choose me, see it.
For book, I would choose 'the story of your life.' It sounds like a personal development kind of book. It's actually a very scientific novel. If you saw the movie 'Arrival', you would be familiar with this novel. The movie is based on the chapter of this book. A great book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done so many things. But I'll say my military experience was the most amazing thing I've done. I'm living in, you know, the only devided country in the world. So it was pretty distinctive experience. Rest is classified, so I'll tell you in person. Haha

Teach, Learn, Share

Well If you are interested in Asian culture, that is definitely gonna be one thing that I can share with you guys. I'm still learning German, but I really want to pick up some local language :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I mentioned above, I'd like to have a more interactive trip. I can give you a broadened way of looking at things.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, England, Germany, Japan, Laos
