CURRENT MISSION
To better myself and the world, or at least just enjoy both
ABOUT ME
I love traveling and experiencing new places, both for their natural worlds and manmade cultural ones. I'm in a period of my life when I'm making the most out of my freedom to travel and move around while I can.
I'm pretty extroverted, laid back, eclectic, and open-minded.
PHILOSOPHY
Love what you do, and you won't work a day in your life.
Some favorite quotes:
"A rich man is not one who has the most, but one who needs the least."
~Mahatma Gandhi
"I never let my schooling interfere with my education"
~Mark Twain
“Get scared. It will do you good. Smoke a bit, stare blankly at some ceilings, beat your head against some walls, refuse to see some people, paint and write. Get scared some more. Allow your little mind to do nothing but function. Stay inside, go out - I don’t care what you’ll do; but stay scared as hell. You will never be able to experience everything. So, please, do poetical justice to your soul and simply experience yourself.”
- Albert Camus
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
AS A HOST
I try to be as excellent of a tour guide as I can be and am always down to bring surfers along with what I might be doing with friends or shows/parties I might be going to. I can maybe host you - just message me. I yearn for the days when I lived in Nashville and could host people every week, but unfortunately my life is just too up in the air these days to be that person.
AS A SURFER
I try to be a positive and fun experience for the hosts, or just be super considerate of them and have minimal interference in their lives. Just depends on the person. I'm pretty independent and open-minded, so I can always be shown around or taken places, but love doing my own thing when I travel as well. I tend to be active and love the outdoors or exploring a city on a bicycle.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I think it's the best way to travel. Meet interesting people, gain insight from a locals perspective, and see a place with a much clearer vision than the average tourist. Traveling is about experiencing the world and CS really magnifies that experience while also making the world a bit of a smaller, cozier, friendly place.
I don't need the statistics to know how great this project is. I've seen and been a part of the lasting friendships/relationships and magical experiences several times first hand.
Interests
I have been a musician for most of my life, so music's pretty important. Love listening to new things and going to all types of concerts. That open mind and passion applies to all elements of culture and food. I'm also passionate about wine of course, and it has become my career.
I also enjoy being outdoors as much as I can. Biking, hiking, playing golf, frolf, board games, tennis, soccer, ten-occer (try it if you haven't), cooking, meeting people, good books, good movies, going on walks, cool bars, food, craft beer, whisk(e)y, and sudden dance parties.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is tough to summarize. It's all over the place, I promise no matter who you are we have at least one favorite artist in common, or at least I'm familiar with whatever you get down to. But here are a few artists who have meant the most to me over the years: Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Punch Brothers, Brad Mehldau, Robert Glasper, Bill Evans, Andrew Bird, TV on the Radio, Bonobo, Beck, Ryan Adams, Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Stevie Wonder
Some movies: City of God, Mary and Max, Big Fish, Dr. Zhivago, Her, Mr Nobody, Chinatown, most classic Noir films, most Coen Bros and Linklater.
Some reading taste: Vonnegut, Palahniuk, Bukowski, Tom Robbins, A Long Way Gone, Ishmael, The Alchemist, Pablo Neruda, Ginsberg and other Beat poets, Book of Longing by Leonard Cohen
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2018 I haven't stayed in one place for more than 90 days, rarely having the same bed for more than a few nights in a row, and it has been amazing. The journey spans 3 continents, 5 countries, and 5 jobs. The adventures are too numerous to list. Wish I hadn't been so lazy with the journal entries because I would probably read the book that detailed it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose if you are interested in learning guitar, bass, or music theory I certainly have those skills. I also have experience in the industry and even went to school for it so I have some knowledge of the marketing, business, and legal structures involved.
I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to wine, spirits, and beer as I've worked on so many sides of that industry as well. I'm often visiting wineries on my travels, and if I'm not in travel mode I'm probably working at one. So if visiting wineries interests you we'd probably have fun and I got the industry hookup ;-)
I love food and really love to cook but I could always be better and definitely wish to broaden my skills and knowledge.
Love learning about other cultures, languages, and what life is like in other countries. I'm trying (not as hard as I'd like) to learn Spanish right now so if you want to help (force) me to practice then hell yeah!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, an open ear and nonjudgmental open mind to listen, willingness to work (need some chores done? I can clean like a mofo), and stories. Let's exchange stories.
