About Me

Hi, I'm Gandhi.
My personal philosophy is extremely malleable and cannot be defined or explained in a sentence or two. So instead, I'll share a few intimate thoughts about how I view nature and life. All things are connected (or as some like to say - interconnected). There is no separation between one thing and the next. It is all made of the same matter. The rocks, water, minerals, plant-life, and even thoughts are all one and the same. The division and expansion of all things is evident in everything within the known universe. We view separation, when we decide that that 'thing' is not useful to us or has not been exposed to us in a way that benefits our particular 'culture', or when the rituals of everyday survival distract us from silent clarity and existentialism. 'Constructs' are then created to simplify and unite the 'tribe' to strengthen the so called 'Natural Selection' process, through the elimination of those things that don't provide tangible results within the immediate environment. Meditative observation of Nature is the language of truth and ultimately contains all the seeds of enlightenment for anyone seeking a 'way' to experience life in it's purest form (without words)... as all great revelations are born through nothing more than... silence and observation. Oh, and ironically... exposure to other cultures (as they are just as natural as the great red-wood tree) At some point, one will discover that Micro-Cosmos and the Macro-cosmos contain the same patterns, and when the overwhelming feeling of not knowing how important you are, occurs - just remember, since all things are interconnected and you were created... you serve a magnificent role in the great design, called the 'universe'. All answers are within, as you are born from the same carbon and hydrogen that the stars were formed from. Which reminds me of one more idea I used to propose to a handful of people... Could it be possible that if 'humans' are born from the stars, then the universe is just as confused as we are?

Okay, I got carried away with this one... oops. So yeah - my personal philosophy is extremely malleable and steeped knee deep in pantheism (Nature/Ethos based truth) and Synchronicity (the concept that all things happen for a reason and there are NO coincidences). 'Omnia Causa Fiunt'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here because I want to see the world coming to people (Like You) who are locals that may show a photographer the real culture of your city/ country.
I 'travel' vicariously through the people that I meet on my travels. I love the opportunity to meet as many different kinds of people from around the world as possible! Especially the ones that are 'lost' and don't want to be 'found'.

Interests

My interests include reading (everything from the great Russian authors, like Dostoevsky, Pasternak & Turgenev to the Beatniks like Kerouac & Burroughs), sculpture & painting, swimming, running (even the occasional marathon), hiking, gardening, and survival studies (primitive fire-skills, plant identification, shelter, etc.), scuba, internal martial arts, meditation & star-gazing (yeah - I know - that sounds corny - but it's not as bad as listing 'Interpretive Dancing' as an interest (no offense to the art - I'm sure it has it's perks).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all movies, music & books that don't suck. Aka, 'Transformers': Sucks - Marching Band Music: Sucks - 50 Ways to Use Feminine Hygiene Products in a Manly Manner, by B. Koz: Sucks
ShantaRam is one of my favourite book and my favourite movie is the Following by Christopher Nolan . I love all kinds of music except American Country music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing earth from the clouds ! (gliding/soaring)

Teach, Learn, Share

I made an impromptu decision to head to Kenya and work in a farm for one whole month, helping with the drought situation and building a Perma Culture Farm to battle water usage.
I'd be happy to help in either farming, photography or we could head to place that we can dance and we can trade dance moves - Useful - Maybe, Awesome - Yes !!
