About Me

Friends describe me as super laid back and always smiling. I'm very lucky that my job fulfils my passion of travelling to amazing places and meeting the most inspirational people on planet earth. I love learning about different cultures and have a childlike fascination with the world and the things on it!

My Couchsurfing page is a bit bare at the moment, I've used it many times with friends whilst at Uni in Birmingham. We used to host people every week for a while and I've also couchsurfed in Morocco, India and a few other places. Always such a lovely experience and I'm looking forward to get back into now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently working on a self funded passion project about environmental issues around the world. Mainly short documentaries about people affected by climate change and other environmental issues. I'd love to meet local people who have an interest in the environment and learn more about the issues from a local perspective.

And of course I'm also just hear to meet some awesome people who are wanting to hang out and connect!

Interests

Filmmaking is a huge part of my life but when I'm not doing that quite often I go for runs ideally out in nature. A lot of my travels is work related but when I find time for a holiday I tend to try to escape cities. I love documentaries but not much of a movie guy!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite band at the moment is definitely Khruangbin. Absolutely addicted to them and I've listened to them daily for a couple of years now. Not bored yet which is quite unusual for me! I LOVE them.

Favourite movie at the moment is an independent documentary called Blood Brother. About an American guy who goes to rural India and spends times at an orphanage. I won't spoil it but it's the only movie that has made me cry. It's intense but very beautiful at the same time. Not a 'cinematic' documentary but such an incredible story filmed from a really personal perspective by his best friend.

Generally read non fiction books but one of my favourite books is The Martian. I love science but not smart enough and can't retain information well enough to talk about it! But this is a really well written book about how a future mission to Mars could play out if things went wrong. Scientifically accurate and a very interesting story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In February I spoke at a business conference in Kerala, India. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing thing I've done but it felt like a big achievement for me. Public speaking scares the life out of me and when I was younger I never imagined being able to speak in front of over a 1000 people. It was a mad and stressful day but one I will never forget. Surprisingly would be up for doing it again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really do love teaching people filmmaking whenever anyone shows an interest. It's such a powerful tool especially in the current climate. It gives us the chance to amplify our voice and raise awareness about issues that most people care about but are sometimes easy to ignore or forget.

I still have so much to learn about life and that's a big reason for this project. I've stopped doing commercial work to try to figure out what is important in life and find some kind of direction. I feel this can be achieved through meeting people from all walks of life and learning from them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As mentioned in the previous section I'm very happy to share my filmmaking knowledge but I understand that might not appeal to most people! I wish I could say I'm a good cook but unfortunately that's not true.. However if I follow my Grandmas biryani recipe to a t that can be very tasty! So happy to give that a shot if someones willing to take a chance ;)

Of course many stories will be shared as well!
