About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and bring a dose of myself to all the friends that I've yet to meet!

ABOUT ME

I'm an undergraduate at the Singapore Management University, persuing a degree in Business Management.

I hail from Singapore, a small city-state at the tip of the Malaysian peninsular (no, we're not a part of China!). Singapore gained independence in 1965 and we're currently the most densely populated country in the world (with population size above 1 million)and if you'd like to know more about our island and how we "roll", you're looking at the right person!

I've travelled around quite a bit, notably on a backpacking trip in central Europe with 9 other friends in 2010. Have been hooked on travelling ever since! Besides the major European cities which I've set foot on and have left me dying to go back, I've been on holiday in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Indonesia. Serving with the Singapore Armed Forces has also got me to Brunei and Taiwan for training purposes.

Places I've visited thus far:Asia:Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, KuchingThailand - Bangkok, Phuket, PattayaCambodia - Phnom PenhTaiwanHong KongChina - Guang Zhou, Shen ZhenAsia-Pacific:Australia - Sydney, BrisbaneEurope:UK - London, Manchester, Bath, Oxford, York, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow Ireland - Dublin France - Paris, NiceNetherlands - Amsterdam, Eindhoven, MaastrichtGermany - Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, CologneBelgium - Brussels, AntwerpAustria - Vienna Hungary - Budapest Czech Republic - PragueSwitzerland - Zurich, Interlaken, BernItaly - Rome, FlorenceVatican City

PHILOSOPHY

Ad Astra Per Aspera!I'm learning to see things beyond what they are on first impressions. I'm exploring the meaning of our existence in this world, I'm an agnostic atheist, and I love the teachings of the Buddha. :P

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started out hosting (just once so far) before having my exchange semester in Maastricht.

Have been surfing regularly and I'm currently introducing the CS community to my friends!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Getting to meet people from different cultures and background, united by the CS community and the use of the English language (in different accents, of course :P), is just... amazing, really. Years ago who would have such access to a great concept that is turned into reality? NOW WE HAVE!

I believe that the key to a great CS experience is an open mind and a willingness to learn, trust and to compromise.

Interests

I love football, supporting Manchester United since I was 6! I like to spend time with my girlfriend and my bunch of close friends I've known for many many years. I volunteer at the Sao Sary Foundation in Kampong Speu Province, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I've made 3 trips in 2011 alone and I'm looking to go back in 2012! Find out more about the NGO here at http://www.ssf.org.kh/ (a new website layout!) and feel free to ask me about what it's all about. (Who knows, we might end up visiting them together, and of course, explore the wonderful country at the same time!)
