About Me

ABOUT ME

Open minded to new people and new experiences. Reliable and honest. Always time for a friend new or old.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I ended up couchsurfing quite by accident during my first trip to New Zealand. I was travelling with someone who had organized some couchsurfs and asked her hosts for a plus one. I was also invited by a host who met me in person quite by accident. These were some great visits and brought me into the lives of some warm hearted and interesting individuals. I have travelled enough to know that the true spirit and culture of a place is to be found in knowing the people who have made it their home. I try to make every place I visit feel like home. We are all more the same than different and kindness is the only path to happiness.

Interests

I have enjoyed long distance running for sometime although the past few years I am more keen to hike through the wilderness. This summer I hiked the northern 1166 miles of the Appalachian Trail in the U.S. and I am now in New Zealand to do some shorter scenic hikes (and relaxing).

I have studied human biology and teaching english as a second language. I have a passionate interest in writing and hope to go into publishing in the future. I am interested in discovering more about nature and humans in it from different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really only watch documentaries (usually nature documentaries) if anything these days. I have enjoyed epic adventures like Lord of the Rings and some of the Star Wars films as well as the quirky and sweet like Amelie.

My favourite books are memoir, non fiction, and science fiction (oddly). My favourite books include Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, Quiet by Susan Cain, and Tiny, Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing the sun gate to see Machu Picchu at sun rise.
