ABOUT ME
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin. They say my name is Michael...that's what they called me.
Of all things, my dearest reader, I think I best enjoy sitting in a room with kind people, music and little pockets of conversation. I was born and raised in Scotland, and therefore don't often complain about the weather. Unless it's too hot.
PHILOSOPHY
If I put anything in this box it would be deeply offensive and contrary to my personal philosophy...mmm. Oops.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfed in the U.S with some of the most wonderfully wonderful people I have ever met, and had even couchsurfed a couple of times before that. As soon as I have some kind of fixed place I'd be loving to be looking to do some hosting.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Playing Old-Time classics at a Pittsburghian Free Market.
The Philly skyline from a Philly rooftop. With Philly beer.
Kayaking in Austin.
Recording music in Memphis.
Interests
Lots!...and lots! I play guitar and love it, I occasionally play the harmonica and love it, I'd love to learn the piano more than I've had the chance to, because I love it, I want to see more of the world, because I love it, I want to learn more language, because I love it, I want to meet more people, because I love them.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I can't say I like all kinds of music, but I can definitely listen to all kinds in an attempt to appreciate them. I lean more towards weirder voices, guitar-y sounds, strong melodies. ("Indie"/"Anti"/*Prefix*-)Folk, Bluegrass, Blues and some country are what you'd find me listening to with a silly look of satisfaction on my face. Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, Old Crow Medicine Show, Regina Spektor are who spring randomly to mind.Films: I like almost any kind of film. I find films easy to watch, because I find I don't really have to do anything and I can eat at the same time. There Will Be Blood (anything with Day Lewis), Once Upon a Time in the West and the MWNN trilogy, Ladri di Biciclette and How to Train Your Dragon amongst the bests in immediate memory.Books: More a fan of non-fiction, since you're asking, but enjoy reading on history and linguistics and simple (simple, simple) science. As far as non-fiction, I usually smile more when I'm reading quirky or strange stuff. Woolf, Tom Robbins and Kerouac are in there, along with a bunch of dead poets. They don't know I read their stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- My days in Edinburgh City Capital of the Kingdom of Scotland.
- The Jacobite Uprising of 1745. If they'd only have listened to me.
- The eastern half of the USA. Can you "do" a country? I bet you can.
