About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live thoughtfully and courageously through the chaos.

ABOUT ME

I love hosting, but am currently unavailable to overnighters. Would enjoy meeting for coffee, take you on a walk, or kayak? I work a lot, and enjoy opportunities to slow down, especially to take in nature. I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, movies, making art, and getting into/on the water. I recently sprouted an avocado pit, and am looking forward to spring gardening time. I love touching people, so massage is precious and contemplative for me. I'm very independent, but see lots of ways to share intimacy. I'm passionate about natural building, good food, air hockey, looking at the stars, and living in my body.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind, or rewind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love networking in a way that helps people move around and travel inexpensively, and that fosters sharing culture through sharing sleep/eat space. Gathering folks together seems to be a natural skill, and bringing good food, drink, adventure, and authenticity to the picture helps everyone sink in a savor it. I value inclusivity, and have a knack for putting fear and judgement on hold long enough to let the picture take shape. I'm ok with quiet introverts, and like taking the time to get to know people, host potlucks, grab random dance partners, and share the word about couchsurfing. I like the "try it" even if you're uncomfortable...especially if you're uncomfortable...and then it is usually less "weird," "scary," and misunderstood.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far so good. I've hosted musical groups, and bike-travellers, and stayed in a busy co-op house in Seattle. I've always enjoyed the quiet sleepiness of morning with new guests, or hosts--especially when it can include breakfast. Also, couchsurfers tend to cut the crap in conversation, and look for those authentic ways to connect.
I used couchsurfing in addition to a farm stay in Argentina. The nights and hosts I had in Buenos Aires were fabulous, and made the giant city seem like a sweet little town.

Interests

Growing food, living structures, art, geology, principles of tantra, sand castles, hotsprings, swimming, cooking together, long walks. Being a bookworm and sewing, and massage, are top of the list for winter.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time, walking in a dark and misty morning at Cannon Beach, OR; I saw this amazing spectacle. There were hordes of Japanese tourists walking with cameras and full rain gear, so most of what I heard aside from waves crashing was Japanese. Everyone was squinting in the wind. Then, there was this man riding ferociously fast on a horse, kind of beserk style, and in a civil-war looking duck canvas trenchcoat. I walked far down the beach, and turing back saw people taking pictures of this rock I'd missed. As I got closer, I saw that it was no rock, but the horse, lying dead in the sand. It's eyes were flipped way back, and it's mouth open and lips pulled back. Apparently it had an anuerism, and that was why it was running so quickly, and why it died in a mid-stride pose. It was surreal and beautiful, and very strange.

Teach, Learn, Share

Like to share/teach: Better soils and gardens, food saving, trusting artistic integrity, more playing, massage and enjoying our bodies. Willingness to try it out, get out on a limb.

I'd like to learn about using my voice and being more musical, and some sound editing stuff. Growing different kinds of plants. Mechanical savviness,( it's a growing edge). Building and sewing beautiful things. Being more patient.
