About Me

*Please note: This is a joint profile for myself and my husband Damir. We only host and/or surf together and all of our CS references were received as a couple*

I was born and raised in the Southwest U.S., while Damir was born in Bosnia and moved to the U.S. at a young age. We both spent the last 5 years in beautiful San Diego, California while working and earning a Bachelor's degrees in Ecology and Journalism respectively. My husband and I both spent seven years working in finance, though not our dream jobs, it allowed us to go back to school to pursue our true passions. Now we are taking a year off in order to explore the rest of the world and see what beauty lies beyond the sandy beaches of Southern California.

We both love the outdoors and seeing how locals live abroad, so we would be happy to go on a hike or meet someone to explore the city and get a couple of drinks with. I'm a photographer and I would love to share pictures of the many places we've been. My husband is a musician who loves an impromptu jam session at any time or just a chat about all the great music of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We both think that travel is a transformative experience and that CS is a way to get people together to share ideas, stories, and good times with. In addition to being a couple of travelers we've also hosted countless couchsurfers and found it to be a wonderful way to make friends and share our city with others. As travelers, we hope to meet people who love their city and wish to help us discover it.

Because we've hosted we understand that sometimes people have busy schedules or different expectations for the CS experience, so we're completely open to hanging out with our hosts or doing our own thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music

To say that my husband and I love music would be an understatement.
Music-obsessed is more accurate.
Indie-rock is our go-to, but we love everything from the Beatles to Beethoven to Kendrick Lamar. If you have any new music you can't stop listening to, we want to know. And if you just want to kick back and listen to some tunes, we're okay with that too.

Movies

We like Samsara when we want to be inspired, Pulp Fiction for when we need some action, and Evil Dead 2 for some gory laughs.
But really we will watch anything, we love movies! We typically seek out sci-fi or thrillers.

Books

Damir says Kurt Vonnegut is king. So it goes...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill! But my favorite experience has been volunteering for a wildlife rehabilitation non-profit where I got to work with hundreds of amazing California bird species (bird nerd alert!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's share stories and some laughs over a drink or coffee.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our photography from around the world. We love to cook with our hosts and we would love to prepare a meal for you or help with the dishes :)
