About Me

Hi! I'm Luis, a visual artist and avid traveler. I've lived in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the UK, Japan, Ukraine, Italy, and Greece, each of which has deeply influenced my art and perspective. I love exploring cultures, meeting new people, and tasting the world's cuisines. My travels are the heart of my inspiration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to build meaningful connections with fellow travelers and locals who share a passion for exploring the world. I believe that the heart of any destination is found in its people, and I'm eager to experience places through their unique perspectives. I look forward to exchanging stories, learning from each other's journeys, and creating lasting memories together—whether it's over a cup of coffee, discovering hidden gems, or sharing a home-cooked meal.

Interests

I have a passion for exploring art, whether it's in galleries or vibrant street murals, in every city I visit. I delight in discovering new cuisines, cooking traditional dishes from places I've lived, and sharing these meals with friends. I'm drawn to off-the-beaten-path destinations, where I can learn new languages and immerse myself in diverse cultures. Most importantly, I cherish making new friends, engaging in meaningful conversations, and gaining a deeper understanding of different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music...almost any.

Books..."The Colossus of Maroussi" by Henry Miller. "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac, "The man who planted trees" by Jean Giono, etc...

Movies...."Blade Runner", "In the mood for love", "Into the wild".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wanderer through vibrant cultures, I find each place has its own rhythm. From savoring pastel de nata in Lisbon's golden light to drifting along Amsterdam's serene canals during tulip season, every journey is a tapestry of moments. My artistic soul thrived in London, where history and contemporary art merge in every corner. Japan captivated me with the tranquility of Kyoto’s temples and the electric energy of Tokyo's streets, a land I explored by local trains for months, uncovering its hidden gems.

In Ukraine, I experienced the warmth of its people and the rich traditions woven into the fabric of cities like Lviv and Odesa. Italy offered a feast for the senses—indulging in the art of Florence and the flavors of Rome. And then there’s Athens, where I’ve found myself living in a city that feels like a perpetual festival, with history at every turn and a community that welcomes with open arms. My travels are a blend of cultures, flavors, and stories that continue to shape the way I see the world.
