Overview
About Me
In a nutshell: a small girl with a big appetite for life. I'd like to think of myself as an open, curious and tolerant person. I did not always choose the easy road but that makes it all the more interesting. A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, right? Oh, and although these texts would insinuate differently, I'm also quite humble!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best way to fully understand a new place is in my opinion by diving into the life of a local. Besides the fact that it's way more fun to discover all the possibilities while chatting ( instead of sorting it all out by myself, alone in a dark, sad room), it's also very practical: you already know all the sweet spots, how to avoid touristic booby traps, how to connect with activities that fit my interests... In other words: it allows me to get the right information from first hand, and preferably while holding a cup of wine in the other one :)
Interests
CULTURE, in its many faces:
- Dance :) --> I'm intuitive dancer. Always stoked to learn some new moves from existing genres from all over the world and in for a good party or festival.
- Music :°) --> I did 9 years of classical piano + 3 years of jazz in the academy of my hometown. Also experimented with back pipes en I can provide some basic campfire songs on the guitar. Once I've started singing it's difficult to make me shut up haha.
- Food :p --> I want to experience every culture also by its food tradition. I prefer the pesco vegetarian lifestyle but when meat is an essential element in the recipe I'll taste it anyways.
- History (o) --> love to discover places with a local guide by my side. One of my last jobs was as a researcher/reporter of the city guide of Ghent.
- Drawing :D --> I did a master in illustration. I like all kind of mediums but the skin is my favorite . Best cover your eyes if tattooed girls are not your cup of tea.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
--> the list is enormous but mostly I listen to psytrance, post rock, ambient, dream pop, balkan, classical music (especially when starred in movies/series), world music. Actually almost everything but metal and rap.
MOVIES
The whole oeuvre of Tim Burton (especially the animated stuff) , fantasy (Avatar, Harry Potter, LOTR, ..), indie movies, cult classics, nature documentaries, ...
BOOKS
I read a lot as a child, now the rate is sadly much lower. But these make the top: All the books of Game of Thrones and Harry Potter (guilty pleasure), books about life lessons, psychology, autobiographies,... ). The last one I read was "Vele hemels boven de zevende", a psychological roman about 5 persons (different ages) whose life blend in a surprisingly way.
PODCASTS
The last 2 years I fell in love with this new way of consuming information. I listen mostly to The School of Life, In a Nutshell, Eindbazen, Crash course history (which is combined with animation on youtube) and guided meditation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A safari in South-Africa. Living in China for a couple of months. An Erasmus adventure on a tropical island. Stand-up comedy (one woman show). Donated 30 centimeters of hair to the Think Pink organization (for breast cancer patients). Rescue insects from being stepped on.
Oops, that's more than one.
Teach, Learn, Share
Those three words mean a lot and come in various forms, difficult to put a label on. Of course I want to teach, learn and share. What the content will be depends on the situation, person(s), location... Adaption is my middle name. Ready to be surprised/ surprise!
