About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Viva Mexico

ABOUT ME

After working straight out of university I only really had a chance to travel after 3 years of work.

My first trip to India changed my view on what I wanted from life (Yeah i know walking/talking cliche - lol) But when I got back to the UK I wanted to find a way to earn my money without having to deal with the annoying fact of only have 20 odd days of holiday.

The last 3 years I have spent working for myself. I really love what I do but tried not to forget why I did it - to be free to travel across the world.

I am now planning a 5 week trip to Mexico and will be using couch surfing to stay with and meet as many as people as possible.

I'm a pretty laid back person and with experience as a host - I also understand hopefully what makes a good CS'er :)

PHILOSOPHY

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have been hosting a number of people in my apartment in Manchester and also attending a number of the CS meetups in preparation for my trip to Mexico.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Pretty much positive across the board - although heard of a few weird stories from other CS people I have met (nothing too dark though.)

Interests

I am a computer geek at hard and have even managed to make my love of books more geeky with the purchase of a kindle. I love hiking and rock climbing, I am not fanatical, but enjoy them when life finds time.

When I have some down time I am happy to enjoy a book or even catch up on some NetFlix. Happy to make recommendations on great British comedy.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies are usually around the sci fi genre - Gattaca and Primer come to mind as some classics.

In regards to Book - I try to read as much as possible. I also like Sci-fi but also like modern literature that includes lots of darkness and drug taking...Bukowski, Palahniuk, Hubert Shelby jr..etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Diving with turtles in the andaman islands.

Trying amazing street food in Kolkatta.

That point when I realized I was free to do whatever I wanted.... after 4 months in India.

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied Spanish at high school and have always wanted to improve especially as a number of my friends are now fluent. My trip to mexico will hopefully force me to get better.
