ABOUT ME

I'm Arminelle and yes, it's pronounced exactly as it is spelt.

My mother was born in Paris, my father in Gin Gin - as a result I'm a little unbalanced. I grew up acting (theatre) and now teach other youngsters how to tread the boards and stay out of jail. My passion is education, philosophy and how to make the world a more workable place for all who inhabit it.

Yes, I am a smoker. Yes, I'm aware it is bad for me. No, I am not hoping to encourage others. Yes, one day I will quit!

I am easy-going, not much of a party animal because I prefer having genuine conversations and hearing people's stories. Everyone has at least one amazing story. Some of these I have included in the plays I've written (with permission, obviously).

After spending many years wondering where my life was going I decided to take matters into my own hands and, well, live!

I walk, I meditate, I talk to strangers at bus stops, I talk to children, I talk to animals and heck I even talk to my plants. I will go to the theatre, the movies, a restaurant by myself and have a good time. I go out of my way to find gifts for people that I know they will absolutely love. I will chose a dinner party over a night out clubbing and if there's a board game around I will pull it out and make everyone play. Unless it's monopoly. I carry a book with me wherever I go because you never know when you'll have the opportunity to sit for five minutes in a beautiful setting and enjoy some solitary reading. I will pay lots of money for good chocolate and not feel guilty. I will go across town to shop at a locally owned, small business rather than shop in a chain store. I recycle and will buy recycled products whenever possible. I prefer buying second hand than new. I cycle rather than drive if I can. And finally, I try to find the good in everyone and ensure they see it in themselves.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't remember how many people I've hosted but it's been a lot! I've also had the amazing opportunity to surf with people when travelling the world in 2010. I met some wonderful people, many of whom I still keep in touch with and many whom I'm planning to see again! I tell everyone about Couch surfing because I believe that it can make a good holiday into an awesome one!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am more than happy to offer travelers a place to crash - I would prefer people spend their money on good food, good wine and good fun rather than accommodation! I have now hosted about ... heaps of people at my little house in Townsville and have enjoyed every moment!- UNFORTUNATELY due to new living arrangements, I am unable to host at the moment but I do still meet up with people and hopefully will have a place for people to crash again shortly!

Theatre, talking (I think I've established that I will talk to anyone and anything), movies, dinner parties, attempting to cook, reading, discovering new and interesting places, walking, late nights, board games, cards, philosophy, spirituality, trivia, conservation, yoga, good coffee, good chocolate ... I could go for a while here. Suffice to say, I have many interests. And yes, I want to know all about the country/city/region you are from.

Yep, love 'em. Books first and foremost. Paulo Coehlo, Jasper Fforde - get into it, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami, Robert Goddard. Anything to do with history, religion, politics or theatre - Shakespeare in particular. Kenneth Branagh films! The man is a genious!

I am a sponge for information and I'm pretty good with trivia. I will talk for hours on any subject you give me and who knows, some of it may even be true!
