About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I strive for a more equalitarian society

ABOUT ME

I value friendship and family.
Things I enjoy:
- critical discussions on politics
- I do yoga (Iyengar) for two years now.
- going out dancing with friends
- It is also so nice to be on my own with a book and coffee
- going out making photos
- love camping and being in contact with nature
- art in many expressions. I used to play the bassoon but now I only listen to music
- nature, cycling not only to go for a ride but also as means of transportation
One of my greatest dreams is to go around the world in a bike. One day, soon...

PHILOSOPHY

It's not really coherent, but here are some things that matter to me:
- I don't have a religion but I suppose the beginning of religions was based on the idea of mystery. The mystery of existence, the mystery of the universe... It would be nice to get back to that a little bit more.
- Opportunities are so important. They shape people's lives so much.
- In our current individualistic societies we are encouraged not to rely on others, but our individuality - which is extremely important - needs to be fed of sharing and solidarity. I value modernity, but I find it unlikely that if we purely rely on our modern solutions we will solve our modern or post-modern problems.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

- I can show you around in Utrecht and give you tips of the city and the Netherlands
- If I am hosted by someone I try my experience to go beyond sleeping at someone's place, meaning having conversations and sharing mutual experiences. I also leave the place equally or more more tidy than when I arrived

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had more experiences with Hospitality Club. I have hosted people at my place with it, and also been hosted by others.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music: If I'm on my own I like renaissance, baroque and contemporary music. If I'm out I can enjoy a wide range of stuff like latin music for dancing, but also alienating club music, provided I am with my friends.
- Movies: I love films so much!!!!! and I've seen so many!! Lately I'm only watching movies I've already seen. That way I make sure I'll have a great time. I notice many news things I had skipped the first time. From time to time I end up finding new meanings. I like dramas, little action movies and a few science fiction movies.
- Books: I almost don't read novels anymore. For my work I read all the time. Mostly specialised human rights and legal theory literature. Otherwise I usually go into history, sociology and the blogs on news. I also listen to Democracy Now! very often

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I participated in a University National Debating Competence, being awarded with the first prize.
- I always wanted to go study abroad and here I am. Really enjoying it.
