Hi! I'm Denis and I'm from Montréal, Québec. My parents were born in Mauritius, and my grand-parents in China. French is my mother tongue but I also speak an excellent English and I can hold my own in Spanish.

I'm a journalist and a photographer and I'm new to this community, but I hope it will be as rewarding as it looks like.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

This is fairly new to me, but I believe that Couchsurfing will be a great way to connect with locals and create authentic bonds. Sharing a meal, having a drink or simply exchanging for a few minutes with travelers or locals always represent a good souvenir. These simple moments are really what makes travelling worth it in my opinion so I hope that CS will be helpful in that regard.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I'm huge music fan and my interests cover a lot a ground. Hip-hop, alternative, electronic, jazz, blues, etc. there's almost no genres that I'm not at least a bit interested in. I went to many music festivals in my life, including in Montréal, Toronto and Chicago.

I like movies that make me reflect upon things, but I also can enjoy a good blockbuster. TV series that really made me go wow include The Wire and Breaking Bad. Stand-up comedy is definitely a favorite of mine and an episode of The Office will assuredly make me laugh.

I read books, but mostly magazines and newspapers with my journalistic background. I like long investigative reports and I will enjoy a good detective novel.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I've covered the 2012 American election as an independant journalist, with 2 friends. We stayed in a campervan and drove all the way from Montréal to Florida. Our objective was to meet young Americans and report about their political views and what principles moved them the most.

I also picked kiwis in New Zealand.

A great and open-minded talk on several topics. Nice pictures, a good hand in the kitchen and an instinct for putting the right music at the right time.
