ABOUT ME

I am a friendly and social person (at least I was told so), smiling when happy, positive and energetic, like sports (climbing, jogging, badmington), a bit lazy sometimes. I'm rather a "night bird", I like to go out often and late, and slightly insomniac, but loving the extra-time it brings me (so I don't want to be cured..).
I traveled a lot before, and spent several years in Asia for studying and work (in South Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore). I travel less now that I'm a dad of a wonderful 4-year old girl, which is one of my motivation for CS : to be able to travel more easily and meet new and different people.
I feel very comfortable in multi-cultural environment, and I'm used to learn foreign languages, and also communicate with people speaking languages I don't know much, even exotic ones.
I am curious and eager to discover new people, new cultures, and to start new project or activities, but my biggest problem is the lack of time: I would need 3 or 4 parallel lives to reach my goals, so, in the end I have to make choices. Which is the hard part for me, 'cause I hate choices.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that with motivation, love (of others and of what you are doing), intuition, method and a little luck, you can achieve anything. Be persevering, have principles and stick to them, but be flexible, always put yourself in question and put your opinions and certainties into perspective of others views, take distance.
The most important part is not what you actually realize, but to realize yourself, find who you are, and reach harmony and balance with your beloved ones and your environment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a member of couch surfing Lyon, and go often to the CS meeting on Mondays.
I want to try both hosting couch-surfers and couch-surf myself, of course.
I'm open to receiving 1, 2 or even 3 people as long as it's for a short period (1 to 3 nights) and in mutual respect.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of now, I've only hosted a dozen of times, but I never surfed. I was thinking about it since a quite long time but never had the nerve or opportunity to step forward until a colleague introduced me to the community.

I love music, sports, cinema, parties, travels and nature, although I'm rather a city person, and can't live without cinema, concerts and other live cultural and social food (theater, dance, etc.).

Just a few, good ol' ones : the Rolling Stones (and also Mick Jagger), Noir Désir, Radiohead, Serge Gainsbourg, Massive Attack, Police (and Sting), Jimi Hendrick, The Doors, U2, AC-DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, M, Tryo, Louise Attaque, Alain Bashung, etc.. and the beatles of course.
And all the jazz and soul classics (Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dave Brubeck, Aretha Franklin, Stan Getz, among many other...), the blues in all its forms (Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rory Gallagher, etc.), but also country, folk, and pop... too many to name.

Some movies I like (just a few) : L'auberge espagnole, Cashback, Pulp Fiction, une nuit en enfer (From Dusk till Dawn), La cité de la peur, 2001 Space Odyssey, bladerunner, Matrix, The Hunt for Red October, Le nom de la rose (The Name of the Rose), all the James Bond..,
and Austin Powers :-), Minority Report, Strange Days, the Island, Gattaka, Un air de famille, On connait la chanson, Le père noël est une ordure, La folie des grandeurs, etc..

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have seen a Sunset from Mount Sinai, and another one at the red sea, and several ones at the Mekong river between Laos and Thailand, and hot nights in the Zakouma national park in Chad, Africa.

Our car broke down there, with 45 degrees in the shade, and we had a quite amazing experience with the local people, taking us to their village, helping us to repair the car, etc.

I visited remote villages in South Korean countryside where children seemed to have never seen a foreigner before, surprisingly. They were so friendly and generous.

I have been impressed by the city of Petra in Jordan, and also the Halong bay in Vietnam. I traveled Koh Sang and Koh Samui in Thailand, and stayed some time in Luang Prabang, Laos.

I have seen a sea of clouds from the mountains boarding the Beeka valley in Lebanon, with centenary cedars piercing through : this was really magical.

I have been invited so many times for lunch by Lao people I did not know before, just walking down the street at lunch time. I have shared many ceremonies at the temple there with friends, colleagues, and many beers at the bars on stilts boarding the Mekong river. These are really sweet memories..

I would love to learn a lot of things, including languages (Russian for example).
I am constantly learning actually.
I can teach languages too, and any skill I have (guitar, climbing, juggling, just to name a few, etc..), in exchange.
