About Me

Hello! I'm not good at intros. I recently graduated college and moved back to my home town with my family... so I can't exactly offer a couch right now. That may change next month. I've hosted a few acquaintances in the past (college shared-housing situation though) but I'll check if they are on this platform. I am a person of many interests but have no discipline to stick to any one of them. More on that below.

I only recently discovered how liberating, exciting and unexpected traveling can be, especially when doing it solo or with acquaintances. I got my first taste when I studied abroad in Japan in 2014 and again in Mexico City 2017-18. While in Japan, I lived in Mitaka, Tokyo and in Minoh, Osaka! In Mexico I was on a tighter budget so I stayed in the city for the most part and crashed at friends' and family when not in school. Apart from exploring the city and hole in the walls, I had such an extraordinary time connecting to my roots despite growing up chicana in the states!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and learn about different cultures.
This holiday season Portland, OR is on my radar.

Interests

I like psychology, sociology and anthro related discoveries and history tidbits and I consider myself slightly artsy-crafty. I just like having deep conversations on a multitude of topics, call them stoner thoughts or whatever. I love hearing travel stories and unique/cultural ponderings. I am opinionated but very open minded. I have a dog and I like cats, and birds! and any animal, really.

Music, Movies, and Books

Here are my diggs as of late:

Some eighties and indie pop.Stuff in the vein of Tame Impala's recent stuff, Mac Demarco and sad rock because of the weather hah

Moulin Rouge (how had I not seen this earlier?), Gone Girl

1984, some adhd and other mental disorder related reads... I need to read more novels !

shows: Crazy Ex Gilfriend, The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine Nine, How I met your Mother, How to get away with Murder, OITNB, Ozark, Breaking Bad, Maniac, Black Mirror, Russian Doll, The OA, Orphan Black, Z Nation, Santa Clarita Diet, Arrested Development, Big Mouth, Mr Robot, Fleabag
Just started Outlander.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed to the tippy top of Teotihuacan (a mexican pyramid). I am AFRAID of heights. I was probably a piece of cake for many but it was a trek. It was a hot sticky day and quite steep but it was wort it because the view was beautiful.

I joined a Taiko (wadaiko) club while studying abroad. I had a blast & our local peers were so great to us! We spent lots of time learning songs and rehearsing for the cultural festival. I worked on my stage fright too and when we finally preformed (boy I was happy it was over with) we won best performance. It wasn't the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone but its one that brought many cherished memories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer my company? o.o I'm shy at first but I'm sure we have interests in common. I'm not a good cook nor do I have any exceptional talents or abilities. sorry. But I am neat and will always help you tidy up or help you with errands. Let me know your style and I will adapt to that too.
