ABOUT ME

What can I say? I guess I'm a dreamer, trying to live up my passions for space and for different cultures, customs, traditions, languages and etymology. I feel at ease with virtually everybody and love to exchange experiences, thoughts, world views, cosmic views, etc. I'm often re-thinking the world, dreaming of alternative ways for more people to live happily.

PHILOSOPHY

Trying to please at least one person every day, giving without expecting anything in return, not making anybody endure what I would not like to endure myself.
Trying to enjoy every moment, without caring too much about tomorrow or looking too much in the past.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Building this community, I think, is all about learning how to understand each other and accepting each other's differences. It's about sharing life-experiences and get the best out of any human being.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience so far has only been very positive, from my introduction to the CS world at some Brussels CS group meetings to a first unforgettable couchsurfing experience in Canterbury and London in May of 2008.
Basically, I did not wait for CS to find out this was the nicest and most interesting way of travelling, starting with hiking around with the scouts when we would stay at locals' premises and later in my early 20's, visiting whatever friend I could all over Europe. Of course I also hosted when I could help.

Interests

Did I already mentioned I'm a space fan? I believe in the positive applications of this domain that was originally inspired by military and national pride. I believe it's more interesting to find ways to explore space together than to fight for the control over resources. I think there will be a lot of cross fertilisation between finding ways to explore space and finding ways of using the resources of our mother ship Earth in a sustainable way.
Of course, I have many other interests, so if you are not interested in space (which is mostly the case), there will certainly be other topics of conversation ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy lots of types of music, providing it fits my mood, in particular alternative rock and intense classical music, also jazz. Favourite film include Clockwork Orange, Apocalypse Now and 2001 Space Odyssey. I enjoyed books from Eco (Pendulum of Foucault, Name of the Rose). I just finished reading the ultimate trilogy in 5 volumes: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, loved it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not seen any rocket launch yet, I imagine it must be amazing. I have been participating in the European astronaut selection in 2008 and went far enough to start dreaming... Currently, it remains a dream ;)
