About Me
Hi, i’m Deniz. I currently live in İstanbul with my two roommates. I would love to be a host but its kinda also up to my roommate’s availability as well, but please don’t hesitate to ask. And even if i cannot be a host for you i would love to give you a tour in Istanbul or give you tips about where to visit or eat in the city.
I heard about this community as i was a teenager and i wanted to be a part of it ever since. I’m enthusiastic about new cultures and traditions and also eager to pass on mine.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When i see tourists in Istanbul, trying to figure out how to explore the city, i always think that if they had a local non-official guide or friend in here, they would have a whole other experience (and more fulfilling) about this city. I am a part of this community because i want to help anyone who visits İstanbul leaves with wonderful memories.
As an amateur traveler, i want the exact same thing for my vacations as well. I want to meet new people and make friends around the globe and have a part touristy part local city experience. Learn maybe a few common expressions of different languages, exchange cultures etc.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love listening techno, jazz, blues etc. i am openminded about discovering any kind of quality music but not a fan of rap :/
I’m trying my best to watch as much as festival movies and it is too hard to name just one or two favorites. But i really enjoyed watching: Burning, climax, the dreamers, the grand Budapest hotel, Winter sleep, Dogtooth, shiva baby, parasite, portrait of a lady on fire, toni erdmann, the wolf of Wall Street, submarine.
As series: Bojack horseman, fleabag, normal people, the office, peep show, seinfeld etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Worked as a volunteer for one summer in LÖSEV, a foundation which helps underprivileged kids with leukemia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn italian and spanish. I’m into trying and cooking traditional foods and i also can teach how to cook some traditional turkish foods. I’m doing yoga since three years and i wanna be able to teach it some day hopefully.
