We are a couple from Ukraine, who got the Fulbright scholarship 2 years ago to get a Master's degree at LSU. I finally graduated in May 2017 and now am just enjoying my time traveling across the US.

We've arrived to the USA in 2015 and had a great experience so far! Unfortunately, Couchsurfing isn't very popular in Ukraine, so we decided to have it all while being in the US.

We've been to New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, spent entire winter in Chicago and summer in Alaska right near Denali National Park. We do love traveling, however, we love meeting new people even more!

Our first experience was with Charles in New York who lived in an apartment right near the Central Park. Unfortunately, first experiences are not always great, but when he told us that the plans had changed and he could not host us for the first day of our stay, we were really lucky to meet Ricky, who kindly accepted our last minute request! We really had great time together.

Then we met a great family of musicians in San Antonio and spent wonderful 4 days in their "weird" house! They were one of the most interesting people we've ever met.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is crazy. We lost our hope to got there, but then we find Eddie, who was just the BEST host we've ever had. He showed us all the city and that's when we understood what is a true COUCHSURFING experience. People helping people, people getting known people. He was really great, and I really want to take him to Ukraine as he was interested in Ukrainian girls and culture (well, probably, he was more interested in girls).

It's not the free couch that we are looking, but a REAL couchsurfing experience!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am working on my web-service for children who want to learn English. We are providing the users with gamified learning opportunities with the background information about the USA. In fact, the users are not only learning English but also making some kind of virtual journey around the States.

That's why I am trying to see as many different US cities as possible in order to get a lot of useful content.
