CURRENT MISSION

To explore various parts of the world, learning what I can of the language and the customs of the people I visit. To host other world travellers from places I have been or want to go to.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a farm and understand what it means to work in the fields and with farm animals. I studied to be a teacher. I took a teaching position in Ontario and after doing that for a few years, decided to pursue other avenues of work. I loved the students, but not the system. I eventually taught myself the skills of baking and became a very successful pastry chef. During the 1970's I became very active in the Gay Liberation Movement and participated in many different aspects of growing the LGBT community into what it is today in Canada, with many thousand others. After selling my bakery (after 29 years of HARD work) I retired and have dedicated myself to travel and Volunteer work. First I became engaged in working on waterfront revitalization projects on Toronto's waterfront. Over the last couple years I have been working as a member of the Board of the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives. Having been an active part of the Queer History in Canada for many decades, I realize the importance of our history and the need to preserve it and make it available for others to learn from.

PHILOSOPHY

If you give to the world, it gives back many times over. If you care for people , they will care for you. If you love others, not all will love you back , but the percentages that do far out number those that don't.
Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. Yeah, it sounds like it comes from a religion, but I think it is the basis of most religions and although I am not a great fan ow what "organized" religion has done to the world, I do lead my life by this basic concept (or at least I give it my best effort).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a participant in the Couch Surfing Community, I hope to be able to meet new and interesting hosts in various parts of the world. I similar fashion, I hope to also host others who wish to visit Toronto Canada.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to Couch Surfing in it's present state, but over the years and my various travel experiences, I have slept on many a couch, visited with many different people and been the recipient of many kind hosts in different countries.

Interests
