About Me

A bubbly personality with a taste for corny jokes and good conversations.
Visually identifying as a chameleon - any photo of me online is probably not how I currently look like because I change my hair so much, but the only constant is the smile and dimples. LGBTQIA ally.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To explore the world and learn about different cultures not from brochures but from the people.

Interests

Other than the essential interests like reading, eating and sleeping, I used to do a lot of dances i.e. traditional Chinese dancing, traditional Malay dancing, and ballet. And Karate.

Unfortunately due to injuries I'm putting those hobbies on a hiatus so I spend my time debating and public speaking. Painting is also one of my favourite past times.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I listen to a variety. For some reasons I recall quite a bit of the old Chinese songs from the 1980s, I can never forget the Taxi uncles asking for my age when I sang to these songs...
Currently obsessed with music that has layers and layers of bass and snares. Also have a passionate distaste for repetitive songs, but in the unfortunate event that I end up liking one of them, it will be filed in my guilty pleasure folder and audible only during showers.

Movies
As much as I love watching movies I never find enough time to watch them all. One of my favourites will always be "Starry Starry Night", even if just for the artsy fartsy-ness of everything.

I also have an undying love for animals. (especially cats.) (and dogs.) (and birds.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to a country where I didn't speak the language to study just to see if I could survive. (I did)

I've lost the same wallet more than 3 times in the span of 1 year but found it every single time.

(Update)
I lost the wallet another 3 times in another year but have also found it every single time.

Received a standing ovation for pick-up lines

Placed first academically in my whole country (it's a small country)

Received awards for my art and had it toured around the UK

Planned and directed 5 difference dance videos in the span of 1 month

Also, cats like me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning. Almost anything. I've picked up many hobbies over the years and I'd love to teach you how to paint, draw, or dance. English, Chinese, Korean, Cantonese, or even Australian, I can teach you phrases that only the locals know (Yes, Australian is a category on its own). I can also share stories of going completely off the map with zero phone usage and the disasters that followed and also some interest image transforming experiences. I honestly think there is nothing better than good hearty conversation with good-hearted company.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of the mysterious country where I'm from called Brunei. I can dispel myths of people living on trees... we don't live on trees, we live on top of the water. And no, not everyone is rich... but some washrooms are indeed plated in gold.

A thing to note is that I'm currently travelling for 2 months to Calgary, Toronto, New York, London, Boston, Montreal and Quebec! Its a long trip and I like to spend quality time with hosts and friends as much as I like to write long, good references so I will be writing them after the entire trip. I have some overdue but its a promise from me to definitely get to it to thank all my amazing hosts.

Also, I am a little shy at first but once I can comfortable then you can have the privilege to be subjected to my (unfortunately bad) jokes - in a selected variety of languages too!
