Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Very little in way of offering to other people currently but looking forward to giving back when the time comes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Pretty new to it but have done lots of WWOOFing in the past. For those that aren't familiar, WWOOFing is an arranged home stay on a farm where the only exchange is work for a place to live and food on the table. I strongly encourage this for people looking to travel and stay in one spot for longer periods of time.

Interests

Ultimate frisbee, all things on the river, laying fresh tracks in deep powder, cooking, photography, family, dancing, politics, gardening, whiskey, brewing my own beer, making math the most exciting thing in a students life, reading, and I suppose this list could go on indefinitely.

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the reading I do is contemporary news or opinions. I love the economist, most op-ed articles from Thomas Friedman and Paul Krugman from the NY times, The Atlantic, and some others.

As for movies; anything besides horror movies. I have been on a bender of cult classics lately including, The Big Lebowski, Clerks, Trainspotting, High Fidelity, This is Spinal Tap. I am not a die hard movie buff but like almost anything.

On to music... Yes! Phoenix, Passion pit, Led Zeppelin, Ozomatli, Mumford and Sons, Norah jones, Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Ok GO, DMB, and yes I admit I have a guilty pleasure for top 40 from time to time.

Certainly not a comprehensive list but should give you a sense of the scope.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on a 50 day canoe trip up to the arctic circle in Canada. Myself and 5 other friends paddled 1000 Km on the Back river to finish in the Arctic Ocean. Seeing the herds of caribou numbering in the thousands across the beauty of the tundra is truly a once in a lifetime.

I would love to share my knowledge of photography, anything outdoors, and beer making.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I have pretty good taste in wine beer and whiskey and love to share with my generous hosts. Also, I can work my way around a kitchen pretty darn well and would be keen to prepare and share a meal with you as well.
