My name is Derek. I live with my roommates Chad and Angelo. I currently work at a sushi restaurant most weekends paying back student loans and on the side do independent films for friends. Most recently I was featured in a commercial before the Chicago International Film Festival. I also work on other projects on the side for fun. The reason I'm opening a couch surfing account is to meet new people and also make connections for when I travel around Europe during September through October.
My roommate Chad is a student at UIC. He is working on an advertising degree with a minor in mandarin. I've known Chad for several years and is a good friend of mine.
Our newest roommate Angelo got a degree in photography from Columbia Chicago. He is currently looking for a job in Chicago and is a great guy and makes really good oatmeal raisin cookies.

My former roommate Gabe Fries (look him up on couch surfing) had a couch surfing account and I made some great connections. I'm opening up a new account because he doesn't live with me anymore but is still around. I'm traveling to Europe during September and October and I'm hoping I can meet some new people during the summer and connect with them again when I travel around Europe.

Our apartment is beautiful!! We do (DIY) house shows and keep up with the local artists. We all have busy schedules but we are able to point you in the right direction on what you should do while traveling in Chicago. We regularly have friends over and hope for good conversations. We might not be able to go on as many adventures with you but we can tell you where to go and how to return safely. Comfort is the very important to us.
